Bowen balled out as a freshman and is starting for OU currently.
Hmmm…

Peyton Bowen 2023
13 G 21 Solo 15 Ast 36 Combo 1 TFL 1 Sack 5 PD 0 INT

DJ Brown 2021
12 G 21 Solo 21 Ast 42 Combo 1 TFL 0 Sack 1 PD 3 INT

DJ Brown 2022
13 G 27 Solo 21 Ast 48 Combo 1 TFL 0 Sack 2 PD 0 INT

DJ Brown 2023
12 G 27 Solo 20 Ast 47 Combo 1 TFL 0 Sack 3 PD 1 INT

I don’t think anyone would describe Brown’s play as ballin any of those years.

And thru 7 games in 2024, the 5 star sophomore starting defensive back, Bowen has 0 PD, 0 INT, 0 Sacks, 1 TFL, and as many assisted tackles 11 as solo 11 for combined 22, an increase of 0.37 tackles per game.
- On the 85th passing efficiency defense (ND 6th), 64th passing yards allowed (ND 12th), 42th scoring defense (ND 5th), and 32th total defense (ND 10th).

I'm not gonna knock the kid.
Didn't he lose his sister right after committing to OU?

In that situation I gaurantee girlfriend or not he was going to head home.

Would have been nice to have him here IMO.

After that signing day clown show, that's gonna be a no from me dawg
That's where I'm at. Might be petty, but I'm not cool with benching an Irish player that committed to us in favor of a guy that waffled in the 11th hour without a heads up.

I have watched minimal Oklahoma this season because I like myself. But Jamie and Greg from ISD said that Eli has been better for them this year

Nobody really thinks that Bowen balled out, that's just combative talk.

His claim to fame is a punt block

This is just as much of an indictment on people who post on this board than it is on these teenaged football players.

Maybe moreso.
I won't knock a dude for stuff going on in his personal life, off the field. If he and his GF broke up, that sucks. I feel for him and his family for losing his sister. That's brutal. And had he committed to ND and then transferred to OU after that, I can't say anyone would blame him.

On the field though, I've said it before, but welcome to the NIL era. You want big boy money, you get big boy criticism. You bailed on ND and your fellow commits at the last possible second and embarrassed everybody in the process. You took away everybody's time in the spotlight to make a spectacle of yourself, and lied to everyone. Sorry, but I don't wish somebody the best on the field when they screwed over the program I love and screwed over a bunch of great men in the process.

I hope for the best of him off the field, and even prayed for him and his family to get through that horrible tragedy, but on the field, nah.

That's all well and good.

My point was I'm not really missing Keely, Bowen and Moore because none of them are lighting Saturdays on fire at the moment. I don't really wish any of them anything, anywhere, all at once. Can't miss, must get, blah blah blah. Nobody can say for certain who is going to make it and who will not.

Notre Dame Football has been around since 1887. These dudes are pebbles in the river had they come to ND or not, which they didn't, so big deal.

This here.
Shuler and Traore have been better college football players than Bowen and Keeley thus far in their careers. Maybe that changes, maybe not.
We get so hung up sometimes on some individual recruit - and elite talent does matter! - but there are so many fish in the sea. You never really know who’s going hit.

And you don't think that maybe Bowen looks a little better under Mickens's tutelage in Golden's system? And you don't think we could use Bama's misfits, especially this year with the injuries we've had at DE? You're acting like it's a zero sum game. Reality is they would make this roster better by being on it.

Sure. Maybe we make more of those two than the programs they chose over us. And we all want all the best players.

But they made their choice and the guys who chose us are also pretty pretty good. Flipping your shit over almost any individual recruit is a waste of energy. There are many good football players out there.

Who's flipping shit? All I see is discussion on a discussion forum.
