I think he had a 1 on 1 on the outside, receiver was turning to go out, but was knocked down by DB, had to eat the ball. Maybe could have thrown it away, would have looked smart.I agree with this. The first sack he was absolutely waiting for something to develop downfield and really put some (more) doubt in folks minds, but Wagner got beat up too and he took a sack. He didn’t even look at underneath options on that, he was going for a kill shot.
Riley never makes this throw.
Steve is undoubtedly a better passer than Leonard.
Those two sacks do worry me though, questionable decision making.
But that's teachable. They're not going to be able to teach leonard how to throw downfield in the same time frame.Looked better than Riley for sure. Took a couple of questionable sacks where he could have easily thrown the ball away.
If we hope to improve WR recruiting we need to take advantage of this.We have far too much speed on the outside that isn’t being used utilized.
Remember when we learned that Mitchel runs a 4.3. That seemed cool for a bit
The sacks and timing USUALLY come with repsBesides some bad sacks that he took, he looked really good. He needs to be the starter.
My thoughts exactly. He had time to chuck it away rather than take shots like that.Steve is undoubtedly a better passer than Leonard.
Those two sacks do worry me though, questionable decision making.
And yet, like you said, he is clearly the better passer. By far. Sad state to be in right now. There is 100% a QB controversy whether anyone admits it or not. Will the media have the balls to press MF on it? Probably not.Steve is undoubtedly a better passer than Leonard.
Those two sacks do worry me though, questionable decision making.
That’s my concern. Can a patched together OL give a drop back passer like Angeli enough time to be effective against a good defense?I think Steve needs to play. ND owes it to the current WRs and the ghosts of WRs who also never got to play true WR (Lenzy). However going to be tougher to do it now with 2, say 3 starting OL out if you go back to Charles J.
I agree. I get the whole if you have two quarterbacks, you don't have one trope; however, I do think that is the best path forward for the short term. Use that as a means to determine who QB1 is to take us down the stretch and, God willing, playoffs. Will slay next year at Cuse.
Not many 2 QB systems I can remember working out but I think this merits a go at Urban's FL or Stoops' team we played in '12
Reminds me of WAR in baseball in that it shouldn’t be taken into account as the sole measuring stick. So many other factors.11 pass attempts and 13 handoffs so far this season. PFF feels like he is the Joe Montana of handoffs to the RB.
