Just throw the sink at him in practices. Line up the best DE and blitz him to death. If get can handle NDs D he can handle A&M

I hope this kid just focuses on playing mistake free and being a mean SOB
For the first game in College Station at night I'd settle for mistake free, or even mostly mistake free. That would still be a lot to ask for a freshman's first start.

the good news is he is facing the best front 7 in fall practice that he'll see all season long and plus according to the A&M OC Saturday they haven't named a starting unit yet as they are struggling to find a starting unit

I'm definitely worried about week 1 against what by all accounts is a very good DL.

That said, it's reassuring that Knapp is outperforming Baker, who while not a great or even good LT, has experience playing that spot.

I'm very intrigued by Pendleton, because ND has multiple viable options that provide quality guard play in Spindler and Coogan, so for them to pick Pendleton means he's outperforming both. That tells me that Pendleton is going to be really good, and I'm already super high on Craig and Schrauth. I think guard to guard, ND is going to be extremely good. The tackle spots is where things might get fuzzy.

Don’t need a line as good as last year with a running QB

Must have had the camp weeks mixed up. Could have sworn I was told this was just random reps.
Tell me the starting 5 on the 31st right now?

Go ahead. We are all listening.
You seem to be the expert?

Oh wait, no, you just give nothing to the discussion but rag on others, before you even know the real answer.

The following players have taken reps with the 1’s.
Do they all start? Or are you just picking & choosing the one example that makes your point?

Baker
Jagusah
Wagoner
Absher
Knapp
Craig
Pendleton
Schrauth
Coogan
Spindler

That’s 10 players. Only one injury.

So yes, ND 100% moved OL around & gave reps to a lot of players to try to find the best 5 in the second week. And guess what? That’s when they discovered Pendleton & Knapp were a lot better than they thought.

Kind of funny reading back through the beginning of this thread considering where he's at now.
Shades of Tommy Rees!

Major props to this true freshman coming in to Game 1, at night in College Station in a ranked matchup, and having to handle a monster of a DE all night. It wasn't a flawless performance, but he played damn well enough for us to win. Hopefully the next few games allow him to ease into the position now.

He did what was needed. Did get beat on quite a few snaps but held onto his block (legally) as long as he could. The quick throw game to the flat helped him out.

I'm not entirely familiar on some of the 1v1 matchups he'll face for the rest of the season, but he's starting off his career going up against one of the better EDGE players in the country, so I'm hoping we can see gradual improvement for the matchup vs. Louisville against Guillotte. Patrick Payton down the road, too.
