He was always there.....always creating havoc.....and then missing the tackle. The D was great controlling big plays, but it feels like a ton of the big running plays came after a missed Liufau tackle. Absolutely abysmal technique as a tackler....was always looking for the blow up hit.

Always thought we would see more havoc plays after he burst onto the scene against unc. But agree, it wasn't due to a lack of effort.

Best of luck to him.

He’s played through quite a few injuries in his time and he was a 5th year player. His stock will likely never be higher so might as well strike while the iron is hot.

If Marist Liufau gets drafted or has any type of NFL career. I will never comment on a players skillset again, as I obviously have no clue.

His tackling technique was poor. But that is not why the D gave up big run plays due to his missed tackles. It's because he was the worst LB ever at run fits. He can chase a play with the best of them. But when you run right at him it's like a deer in the headlights and he freezes.

Correct. Not every 5 year guy is going to want this extra Covid year. Five years in the program is plenty.

Would have thought Marist was closer to 220 than 240. That's good size, especially if he runs as well as we think he can.

He's going to run in the mid 4.5s.

A lot of folks around here may think it's crazy, but Marist's athleticism and skill set is being highly regarded in the scouting community. He's likely going to end up a Day 2 pick.

I have a feeling he will go higher than most fans expect due to his measurables & high ceiling. I look at Blake Fisher the same way. I think he’ll be drafted higher than expected as well.

He's been 239 on the Notre Dame roster all season.

IMO, Marist can carve out a nice role in the NFL. He fits the mold of a situational LB that can find success in today's NFL. Versatility and situational football is the name of the game.

That and he would be a stud on special teams.

Shocked but not really. Media didn't have in ranked all that high, but teams did. I thought he would go around here on Day 2, and it came to fruition.

Congratulations Marist!

Maybe a little early but I’m fired up about this.

I felt some NFL teams would fall in love with his versatility. Turns out one was our Cowboys. Fuck it, let’s ride.
Curious what you mean by versatility here?

I thought he was really only good at disrupting plays at LOS, not making them, because as others have said, he’ll run through a wall for you in his gap. If that wall is a rb, play is blown up.
