I read that column today and all it did was remind why I quite reading his stuff in like 2005-06, right around there.
Yeah, his writing was pretty pretentious. I don’t care if you were sipping a latte at some chic coffee shop no one has discovered yet.

Don't forget when he would bang on about the Norah Jones album his gay daughters would recommend him

Josh Pate has been on a roll lately. He basically comes out as an ND fan in this short video:

I doubt he's a fan
I think it's as simple as, he's found out that allll of the other media talks shit about ND. Meanwhile, there's an open niche market for counter/pro ND takes.
He gets ND viewers and ND haters come to cry about his takes, all generating clicks.

Most of his takes aren’t bad

Most of his takes are extremely milque-toast and generally complimentary toward whatever team he's discussing. He has the gift of gab though, which is what really matters in his industry.

I like Pate a lot. He isn’t offering cutting edge insight, but he’s always very careful to avoid the emotional take on anything. That’s almost impossible to find anymore.

He was on Irish Breakdown today. When he wasn’t being talked over by Driskell, he was an entertaining listen.

Putting in that work

He let you tap that yet?
You're new (allegedly) but it's clear none of your posts add anything original and they're all negative. Ppl notice, consider being a net positive once in a while.

If you can just get through the Bryan Driskell part, Pate had a really good interview on IrishBreakdown.

Maybe I am blinded by Fortuna disdain but this feels like such a chode question (although an elegant response from NW’s coach)

Does seem like a weird question to ask when discussing a grand transfer, specifically. It's not like NW and ND are on par with one another with on field success, and ND has NIL program rolling and NW doesn't.

Dude saw on opportunity to get minutes in the defensive backfield at ND with a team ready to compete, at another excellent academic institution. Doesn't really need to be more complicated than that.

If he got a little cash on the side, good for him. It doesn't all have to be about NIL in 2024.

The Northwestern beat can’t accept that a player would want to move up to the big leagues lol, Little 10 teams seeing NIL Ghosts like Sam Darnold

Honestly thought it was a perfect response. Respectful to all parties, didn't dog ND in anyway, didn't accuse or make excuse... Classy response.

New article on The Athletic about nepotism in sports announcing. The piece leads with 5 or 6 paragraphs about Jac Collinsworth sucking as ND PxP
The focus on Collinsworth only grew last year, especially during a flat performance with his partner, Jason Garrett, on a Notre Dame-USC prime-time game in October.

Though Collinsworth, after graduating from Notre Dame in 2017, had success at ESPN as a reporter and then on the sidelines and hosting for NBC Sports, his failure on the Fighting Irish games caused the man responsible for the move in the first place, Sam Flood, the president of production for NBC Sports, to finally remove Collinsworth from the role last month, admitting his mistake as Collinsworth did not have the requisite play-by-play reps yet for such a large assignment.

No shit

Exactly. He can still end up being a good PxP guy but going from the classroom almost directly to ND PxP is wasn’t a good look. At least appear to pay your dues.

Completely random thought, but is everything all right with Pete Sampson? Feels like it's been a while since we've heard or seen anything from him.

Completely random thought, but is Pete Sampson still on the beat? Feels like it's been a while since we've heard or seen anything from him.
He has been on an extended vacation in Europe. Prister mentioned the other day on the pod that he doesn’t really know when he will return, but that he would return…
