a kid like Knight with his rating, his locality, commitment to ND and yet flirtation with high profile SEC schools is a like a goldmine for clicks for recruiting sights. you literally couldn't ask for more so you can't blame them for bigging up everything

Just my opinion, he does more with less than anyone hovering around the top tier. Always competes and gives the elites good games, and I think they could win it all this year.

Kirby definitely above him, maybe Oregon coach if I'm placing a bet early, but not sure I'd take anyone else over Kiffen today.

Everyone has their own opinion. But I struggle to put a coach in the top 3 when he and I have the same amount of CFP appearances.

I want Deuce to work out but yeah have always been a little skeptical on this one. And if Bama and Ole Miss come hard it’s hard to say no.

I don’t think losing Deuce would be the end of the world but what worries me is we basically turned off recruiting on all other QBs after he committed, and - both despite and because of the portal - we absolutely need a QB in every class. The later we go the harder that’ll be to find.

Maybe there’s another Kenny Minchey out there for us but…

O/U on Kiffen ever winning a Natty as a HC. I'm taking the Under.

I think he won't sign with ND when all is said and done. My hunch is that he will be wary of being homesick and will sign with a team nearer to home.

What did the Loy's Irish Illustrated article state more or less?

I was always skeptical and never got overly excited on Deuce's commitment. It was too early in the game. We don't really recruit Mississippi, we're attempting to pluck him from the deepest depths of SEC territory (and not a major metropolis like Atlanta, Nashville, Dallas, Houston...), it's a far, far ways away from home, the kid has no connection to Notre Dame or Michiana (at least, not that I know of), you've got Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, etc. all a stone's throw, it just never made sense. The Nashville-Lipscomb thing was "odd" and it didn't pan out. I'm just skeptical and not getting my hopes up.

Again, I can't see Loy's article, but I really don't like "commitments" taking clandestine visits to other schools...that just irks me.

If he ultimately ends up committing? Great! But I'm still doubtful....
More or less stated that a potential visit to Alabama was in the works "possibly". Not much at face value, but Loy went out of his way to say he was "worried" for the first time in this recruitment. Loy said that Deuce's family have a great relationship with Bama's new OC since he coached Deuce's brother at Indiana.

Either way, this kid is never going to start a game at ND. There is no chance he comes to ND and sits behind CJ Carr for three years waiting for his turn. It doesn’t work that way anymore.

It might be better for him to go somewhere else to start with. He isn’t playing in his first year and he will probably therefore transfer. ND may be in a better lace to get him in at that time.

Kiffin has went 11-2, 8-5, 10-3, 5-5 and 2-2 in bowl games at Ol' Miss. I would expect a better record for a top 3 coach, but that's just me.

Kiffin is a bitch. Yeah he does cute Twitter stuff but he doesn’t have what it takes.

Yep. He's a good football coach but he's not a coach who can lead an elite program. If he was, he'd have an elite job (not Ole Miss). Bama knows him well and he didn't even get a sniff at their job this year. They were gonna interview Tommy Rees but not Lane Kiffin.

My hunch is that this time next year Kiffin will be the Head Coach at Florida.
Napier seems likely to struggle again in his third year.
Kiffin has a stacked roster with numerous top 25 recruiting classes in a row + important transfer portal pickups.

If Kelly was still our coach I think he would be visiting other schools, but with Freeman he is different than Kelly when it comes to recruiting.

I am sure that DeBoer is selling to Deuce that he could be the next Penix.

If Deuce decides to decommit, ND's QB room is healthy.

I'm with the majority on Kiffin. Sorry but taking a perennial 6-6 level program to 9-3/10-2 level is way different than being a contender. Remember Matt Campbell hype? What has that led to? Kiffin is the best at that level but call me when he goes to a 9-3/10-2 level program and takes them to the playoffs (or now winning 1 or 2 playoff games).
