Funny enough, Jagusah was also the #8 OT in 24/7s final rankings for the 2023 class.
Yeah, but I can somewhat understand that. 2023 was a much deeper OL class, and Jagusah looked to project more as a G/RT.

So him being rated as a tackle against several guys who were definitely tackles at the next level, I can understand the logic there. Even though I do think Jagusah can be a great LT, just because he's just supremely talented. But I at least could see the justification to bringing him down as a tackle prospect if his projected best position isn't LT.

With Lambert, there is no questioning he's a LT and one of the top 3 in a weaker overall class.

I had no idea this dude was this good when he committed. What are the odds that he gets a look at be big a true frosh starter at tackle?

Hainsey played every game as a true frosh and started i think one

Don't think you want two frosh (one a RS) starting at A&M

The two who have done it previously that I can recall are Ryan Harris and Sam Young.

I feel like I'm missing someone since.
Sam Young started as a true freshman, played four *fine* years at Notre Dame, was a late-round draft pick and then inexplicably played TEN seasons in the NFL.

His physical traits netting him a long NFL career despite not being a standout talent is like how all you needed to be was tall if you wanted to hook up with someone in college.

I still remember him having a quote… think it was when he was with the Cowboys… where he was basically like “I had to relearn everything in the NFL but now feel really good about where I’m at” and then said that the Weis S&C and OL coach were just totally disconnected from how things were done in the league.

Yeah. Lambert seems like a great young man and I hope he has a wonderful career at Notre Dame but don't love the idea of a true freshman starting on the OL.
Also he will have a massive step up in competition level from the Boston Catholic Conference, and he is not an EE. I'd expect a trajectory more like his high school teammate Traore. A little raw coming in. Sees the field a bit as a freshman. World domination starting his sophomore year.

People forget what Kelly and Longo walked into when they came to ND. Those Weis teams were gassed in November fourth quarters more often than not, and Sam Young was done very favors in that respect as far as I was concerned then as much as now.

He started every game for four years. Never missed one. It's hard to find a lot of guys anywhere, Notre Dame or otherwise, who can say that. Another guy who gets shit from his own fanbase and I don't quite understand it. He was a five star recruit and for some didn't live up to that as an offensive lineman, but managed to never miss a game and played in The League for a year.

Lambert is coming into a far greater situation. I don't know if I'd pencil him in as a true frosh starter, but his runway seems somewhat clearer than Jagusah's was a year ago and Jagusah not only got there for the bowl game, but he looked like a veteran while doing so. It's exciting to have Lambert coming into the fold.

I always thought Sam Young was rock solid...not elite but rock solid. Lunch pail kinda guy.

It's not ideal, but Lambert wouldn't be given the starting job from day 1 like Fisher was.

He'd have to win it against Wagner and Baker.

Not ideal at all, but better with a running QB where the DL have to stay more disciplined.

does anyone think that lambert could end up being the starting RT at some point during the season?

Tall order for a true freshman summer enrollee. He also did not really play much elite competition in high school, nor did he do the camp circuit. Has probably never seen a pass rusher of the sort that Florida State and USC would throw at him. Except for his high school teammate Boubacar I suppose. Hopefully they've been going one-on-one for years.

I think it's possible. But frankly, I'd like to see Wagner move to LT and Jagusah to RT.

I think Wagner's game is more suited to take on quicker pass rushers, while Jagusah is a monster run blocker who can take on the bull rush from the strongside.

I don’t think Wagner is heavy enough for this level of college ball, unfortunately

He's 292 with plenty of room to grow. He didn't look that undersized out there on Satuday. Based on everything I saw and read, he outperformed Baker.

He can get up to 300 before fall camp.

I don’t know where that room to grow is to be honest. The guy is eating like 8k calories a day and can barely add 5 pounds in a year. 300 pounds probably won’t cut it. Dude needs to be like 310-315 at least to be effective IMO.

Hainsey was playing RT and listed at 290 back when he was a freshman. He wasn't on anybody's AA list but he was serviceable there. I have some optimism on Wagner being able to play reasonably well this fall.

Wagner needs to do whatever Pat Kuntz did to gain weight. Kuntz was maxed out at 270 for 2 years, then suddenly he was at 300.

He'd have to be super strong for his size if he's 290. But he's not getting run over in what we've seen so far. I like him better than Baker who is slow and is always going to be slow.

Eichenberg was around 300 at ND. He was a first team All-American.

Martin was somewhere around 300-305 at ND. Another All-American.

Hainsey was around 290-295 at ND.

It's definitely not a requirement for a tackle to be 315. It's nice to have, but if they can handle edge rushers in pass pro and move guys decently at 300.

By all accounts, Wagner is noticeably bigger than last year. So him adding another 10 pounds over an offseason is very realistic.

Keep in mind, he entered his freshman fall camp at 260, and in a year he was in the 280's.
