What makes one a sharp? Inside information?
It's kind of an amorphous term. True sharps are bettors that place wagers before the books open their lines to the public. The books use the sharp bets to set the lines for public bettors. But sharps bet after the lines are set too of course. The thing that sets sharps apart is usually the dollar amount per ticket, along with the fact they tend to win more than 55% of the time.

There is this thing called reverse line movement, which means the line moves towards a team despite the fact that the majority of the public tickets (i.e. individual bets) are on the other team. This happens because the majority of the money is on the former, despite only having a minority of the bets. Sharps did that.

That’s why I don’t gamble or play individual stocks. Too much inside info or corruption that I don’t have access too can be used.

Can a sharp confirm whether Oregon State's good RB - the kid who got the DUI - is or is not playing? I've seen both reported.

It's also important to remember that in this day and age most true sharps have betting limits with books (since almost all of it is done online/through apps instead of how 'back in the day' you used to have to physically place bets and try to use "runners" to conceal your identity if you were a sharp). Accordingly, many sharps will also privately sell/tout/disclose picks but not until very close to the start of the contest after their bets are locked in at a better line... which can lead to a deluge of "public" bets on a side and late movement.

One funny thing I've encountered is that last year in the middle of lacrosse season I couldn't place any sizable bet on DK without it going into "review" for a short time. They never rejected one of my bets, but I always got a "check back later for confirmation :)" thing for a hot minute. didn't affect small bets of like $10 just larger ones or "futures" for the most part. Has never happened to me with football, which makes me think my win % on lacrosse got flagged or something.

I’ve parlayed ND -4.5, over 39.5, and Love +40 on the ground. May put together another parlay before kickoff…I’m looking.

I can't bet player props on CFB in Virginia but Love over 40 yards rushing is free money.

It’s -490, so doesn’t payout much alone, but capped the parlay nicely. Got the bet to +250 which is what I was looking for

He's not on the depth chart put out by Hynson a couple days ago.

I took Fenwick over on the rushing yards, I'm concerned with Brown, Bertrand, and Kiser tackling a 222lb back. Also, I don't see the beavers throwing on ND, so if ND contains Fenwick, ND should win easily...which I will happily eat the loss.

watching this at an outside bar in 70 degree weather hits different. Here we go
Watching this on my cell phone in my kitchen cause the rest of my house is a medical ward. Three sick kids, a sick wife, and a dog with diarrhea cause he found a Christmas candy stash….. starting to pour my 3rd old fashion in preparation.
