Finally got around to watching Barbie. Meh. It was fine. Certainly didn't live up to the hype. Script was kind of an unfocused mess. Seemed like it didn't know what it wanted to be. Thought it was going to be a fish out of water movie with Barbie exploring the real world which would have been interesting. Then we switch focus to this teen girl, wait nope actually her mom. Nevermind we're back to Barbie to finish the movie where she goes back to Barbieland to make heavy handed commentary about the patriarchy?

Also nothing against trans people, but man the one trans person playing a Barbie was distracting. Every time they spoke it took me out of the movie bc they sound like fuckin Sam Elliot or something.

Margot Robbie is hot as hell. 5/10

Yea weird ass movie and while some of the scenes definitely went for the shock factor, i never actually got uncomfortable watching it like say Requiem For a Dream.

Watched Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, with Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L, Morgan Freeman and Selma Hyack. Comedy Action type. Okay, but expected more given the cast. Reynolds does get to honk the horns if you get my drift.

Who ever released Barry Keoghan on Hollywood needs to answer for their crimes.

Aha he’s an amazing actor but totally miscast in this movie he’s way too old looking to play a college aged kid

I wish they would give the Joker a rest but I'd be interested to see what Keoghan does in the Robert Pattison/Batman world

Godzilla Minus One was shockingly great. I was not expecting it to have such a rich story with deeply complex characters. It was emotional and filled with thought provoking themes.

Acting and CGI was top notch. I think it's the best movie of the year and by far the best Godzilla movie every made.

I’ve heard nothing but good things, I’m kicking myself because I was going to go see my first movie in theaters this year but I waited too long and it’s no longer playing in my area

I was reading a review and a guy called it more historically accurate than napoleon which I thought was funny

Keoghan was arguably the best performance in Bashees of Inisherin and that is saying something
i actually Everything, everywhere the other day and my blood was boiling it won so many awards over Banshees. The whole "Asian Hate" Movement thing a while back won them all those pity votes

I probably prefer Banshees but I don't think EEAaO was so inferior that blood should boil or you should assume that they were given racial pity.

I liked Banshees and it had good performances but it’s a typical white bummer. I was glad the academy awarded a movie that was actually really fun and had so much heart. Everything everywhere was easily the best movie last year imo.

Let’s see what has my family made me watch:

1. Rebel Moon was very disappointing. It wasn’t totally hot garbage, but close.
2. Oppenheimer was entertaining, the delivery was not typical. I did have some issues with the failures to follow historical facts, but if you’re watching a movie for your history lesson jokes on you.
3. Wonka was….well, I got movie theater popcorn!
4. 5 Nights at Freddy’s surprised me, it actually entertained me more than expected.
5. The new Exorcist movie was bad. That is all.

Anyone seen The Boys in a Boat? My son is on a rowing team (has a shot to make a college team). Thought we might see this weekend matinee.

Watched Oppenheimer. Could have had a little better flow, but interesting how some tried to persecute him

Anybody seen the original Oldboy? Dont know how i missed that one back in 2003 but holy fuck you spend the first half the movie confused as hell and then the last 30 minutes…disturbed but thoroughly entertained. Incredible plot twist.

The holdovers on Peacock. It was ok but a bit contrived. I guess it was a holiday movie. Paul Giamatti is always good but made me want some Merlot and to turn on Sideways.

Requiem still is the single best, uncomfortable movie I have ever seen. Brilliant movie.
Yep. Nothing warms the heart like watching Jared Leto shoot up into a dime sized rotting hole in this vein or Jennifer Conley going “ass to ass” in front of a room full of obnoxious fucked up old men. Good times!

Are these ratings.
You gave Leave the World Behind 4 out of a possible 4? So (for example) The Godfather is no better.
I’d give it 2/4.
