"Woman of Straw." I was flipping through Prime and saw this and thought "Why not?" A 1964 film with Sean Connery and Gina Lollobrigida (rawr). It has a Hitchcock-lite feel as it follows the same trajectory as many of Hitchcock films that starts off as a standard melodrama but that the seamy edges start to creep further in as the movie goes along. Connery's role is interesting as he plays against 007 type as a scheming playboy who hates his wealthy uncle. Ralph Richardson plays the uncle as an impossibly mean-spirited SOB who starts to turn a bit human with Lollobrigida as his nurse. Richardson should have gotten an Oscar nod; you go from hating his guts to feeling sorry for him at film's end. It's not an incredible movie and goes along a bit slowly, but it's a good watch if you like those classic early 60s movies where people wore designer suits while drinking martinis on spacious balconies all the time.
