One wild-card option to keep in mind is NBC football analyst Jason Garrett, the former Dallas Cowboys head coach. The 57-year-old Princeton grad has never coached in college football, but he did get strong consideration for the Duke job a few years ago during the search that led to Elko.

This now makes Troy Calhoun at Air Force the longest tenured G5 head coach.

Stockstill was hired in 2005, same year as Gundy and Whittingham. Only Ferentz has a longer tenure right now.
Losing to Colorado State was the kiss of death this season. Four of the five teams CSU beat are replacing their head coach (MTSU, Utah Tech, San Diego and Boise States).

No mention of Golden for the Duke job in The Athletic, but they do suggest Jason Garrett as a "wild-card option." Can we make that happen?

Imagine not losing Golden AND getting rid of Garrett from the booth? Would almost make retaining Parker as OC palatable.

Always thought that would be a bizarre decision for UCLA. I don’t think he’s a savior to that program because I don’t think one exists. Arrow up, I wouldn’t mess with it now.
I was on this bandwagon too, but then I looked at their 2024 recruiting class. 12 commits. ZERO 4 star recruits.

That's after 2022 and 2023 classes that had a combined 6 4+ stars.

Unless you are absolutely dominating in the portal, you cant compete for shit with that level of talent.

Chip never liked to recruit. Though he was good at recruiting to his system.

But, keep in mind he brought in 14 transfers this season and 13 last year. Fully bought into the portal to meet his roster needs.

Like I said, I don’t view him as a game changer for UCLA but the performance on the field is improving. And, now he has a much easier path to recruit via the portal.
