This is a great site for checking how many years and games/year a QB has played and of course if their freshman year was 2020 or earlier, then they do have the COVID 6th year option which it looks like Jefferson has as an option to exercise

Cam Rising, Utah (bring his OC with him if we can afford him?)

I like this list, the only thing I would change is put "(bring his OC with him!)" after every entry.

A very remote chance, but it would be interesting to bring final-year QB and OC over from the same school:

Michael Pratt (#8 ranked QB as of 10/25 per CF Network), Tulane (#56 O per ESPN) along with OC Slade Nagle
TJ Finley (#16 ranked QB as of 10/25 per CF Network), Texas State (#9 O per ESPN) along with OC Mack Leftwich
Brady Cook (#26 ranked QB as of 10/25 per CF Network), Missouri (#36 O per ESPN) along with OC Kirby Moore

I remember Finley should have led Auburn to beat 'bama in the '21 Iron Bowl but stepped out of bounds instead of getting tackled inbounds at end of regulation which was the difference IMO of allowing just enough time for Bryce Young to go down field to tie it up and eventually win in OT. Finley and Auburn should have won that game; 'bama made the CFP NC game that year but lost to GA.

That was Tank Bigsby the RB that ran out of bounds not Finley.

One more interesting QB / OC combo is Jayden de Laura / Brennan Carroll, but definitely more the OC part of the combo (especially with de Laura mostly being replaced by freshman Noah Fifita as of late). But ND still needs a 4th QB and de Laura does have a year of eligibility remaining. AZ is 6-3 and in Top 25 (at #23) for first time since 2017!

No QB with half of a melon between his ears will consider ND unless they get a dynamic OC.

Without a new OC the thought of Pratt coming here is an IB Special. It ain’t happening unless big changes are made. Just look what happened to Hartman!

I'm not going to 'bash' on all that want transfers in... I do get the reasoning. I would, though, like to see the advancement, training, building and field-play of ND's 'natural' commitments. I'm 'long in the tooth' so, I've seen ND's '#1' sign lit up for long times back in the day, hell; was at the 73 Sugar Bowl as a kid - and I want to see sign lit again... for a long time. But it seems to me the NIL and Transfer Portal may take away from the development of committed kids/men. That doesn't mean I think those committed are neglected.

IF the Irish are certainly looking for a QB transfer for next year, why not start seeing more of Angeli and Minchey in the last games the Irish have - regardless of opponent and game situation. Evaluations probably need to start now. I would believe to determine if ND needs to go for a QB from the portal, something is wrong with the QB commits ND has now - no?

Am I missing something in my older age??

The portal isnt going to be all that nice this year. Interesting note is II is very confidant we go to the portal but IB keeps putting out there they wont and Minchey is taking names in practice. Reads like usual fan boy IB content but they have doubled down on this.

Between II and IB - what site said Tobias and WRs were going to be a problem? And what site said Tobias was looking great?

I'm no expert but in general, isn't it a good to get a 4th QB in the mix since both Pyne and Buchner left (is RPIII still around?) and of course why would a younger transfer QB want to come in with much youth here already and why would ND for same reason want anything more than a final-year GT QB? And then why would any GT QB come to ND unless he thought he has a very good shot at being QB #1 in the Fall? I think that points to getting a GT QB. But yes, let's use these final two games to see what we got with Angeli (and for him to see what he can do as a live, in-game QB). Then all parties can make educated decisions once the season is over and then we see how the chips fall.

Agreed. A proven GT QB (Pratt/Rising/Howard) is probably the first choice. There are not many of these and they will be highly sought-after.

An experienced GT with some flaws - maybe someone who had but then lost a starting job a la Coan - who’s willing to come with no promises, would be a potentially valuable piece for us.

A young QB with no starting experience just muddies the waters of our current room. Unless we’re talking about an absolutely elite talent, we should pass.

Oklahoma and Miami weren't good football teams last year but they dropped bags to acquire several players they had no business getting, given their on-field performance. Granted, those were mostly recruits that they bought, but there's no reason why ND can't go all in and drop bag after bag for the best grad transfers.

If ND can drop a bigger bag for Hartman than SEC schools that print money then money isn't an excuse. ISD said on their Youtube show recently that ND can compete with pretty much anyone with NIL for grad transfers and players currently on the roster.
