Clearly Kelly's fault if he doesn't end up being a valuable contributor.

I’m not an expert, but I don’t see amazing athleticism. I worry about him putting on weight and getting slower. He clearly catches the ball very well. Our recent smaller tight ends really haven’t done much career wise
agree

Definitely going to be a blocking te

Larsen is very similar to Tommy Tremble, from a height/weight perspective

I feel like he's the drew pyne of TEs. He blew up really early in his HS career showing great ball skills. He hasn't gotten taller, but he's still improved. I just don't see how he translates into what we're trying to do, at least what I think we're trying to do.

If he decommitted, the Bama's, georgia's, clemsons, osus, etc i don't think would give him another look.

I don't see that at all. Tommy was slightly undersized, larsen seems very undersized. Tommy is definitely a lot more athletic, but larsen is definitely more skilled/polished at the same point in high school.

Tommy had the talent to improve a ton and he did, i don't see the upside with larsen. Tommy was a devastating blocker in college, and blocking well in the nfl, slim chance larsen can become that.

I would bet Larsen is 6'1ish, and does NOT have a big wingspan. Wingspan is important at the TE position for many reasons, heck it's important at every position other than maybe RB.

His ball skills are so good that I'd be surprised if he isnt a productive player for us, especially has the #2 TE playing a Tremble / Staes this year-like role. Just isn't going to be a top draft pick with his measurables.

I was simply just comparing 247 profiles. We’ll see what happens

Yeah, they are just two completely different prospects their sr year of high school IMO. Larsen is so much more refined as a route runner and catcher, but not overly physically gifted. Tremble had a ton of physical gifts but was extremely raw. He became an extremely good blocker at ND. Stinks he only stayed for 3 years but he saw mayer as the clear #1 pass catcher for 2021 and left when his stock was solid.

I think ND knows this and that's why they were going hard after Nelson (he has high potential) and or 2 in 2025. We probably don't get Nelson, and should keep Larsen to have the right numbers.

I'm not a fan but we also use 3 TE sets often. Im sure as a JR/SR he can easily be a 3rd TE or give a breather so I'm 100% ok with the offer, especially without another TE in the class.

On that note, saw Carter was at Nebraska again as expected. Are we seeming out there.

I could see him in an h back role a lot if that is something they decided to go to but yeah his height makes it hard for him unfortunately

Loy is feeling pessimistic now. Said Nebraska feels it's likely he sticks and ND feels it's likely he doesn't flip. A lot can change obviously, but disappointing. ND did all it can other than expand the board if they really want another TE.

I've had the feeling that Nebraska could go 0-12 this year and lose every game by 30+ and he wouldn't flip. Some kids just want to stay home.

I think they’re going after Nelson because he’s that good of a prospect. They should look to grab two tight ends every cycle because they run a shit ton of 12 and 13 personnel.

He’s a good football player, my concern is how much room for growth/potential he has.

I think it will depend on how he is utilized. He'll never be 6'6", but not all great TEs are that big. He seems like a terrific pass catcher and heady player in general. Just seems to know how to do a lot of the little things many players struggle with whether its boxing out defenders, route running, reaching second level blocks, etc.

That visit was a real game changer

Brock Bowers is 6'3.... FYI
He's listed at 6'4" on 247 and ESPN, but he's probably actually 6'3 or 6'4. No one looks at Bowers and thinks "smaller than I'd imagined".

This is the smallest looking TE I can recall ND signing IMO, but again I get the take given our utilization and the fact we don't have a 2nd.

While he was definitely a different overall body type, Tyler Luatua was at best 6'2.

And an elite athlete at the position. Was as a HS prospect as well. Larsen doesn't have that athletic profile nor do I think he ever develops it.

He's a solid addition. Reasonably high floor guy for a deep room. But, I don't see him being the next guy to take over at TEU.

I guess I am the only one who sees a pretty smooth ass athlete.

Yeah he's small, no arguing that.

Listed at 6'4 so you're probably right, i feel like Larsen is more like 6'1, and shorter wingspan. He looks small but also looks like he doesn't have much more room to even fill out.

Larsen is a fine TE, we're just recruiting a lot more talented players especially the 22 class and most likely the 25 class.

Brock Bowers is one of the more elite athletes at the position. In HS he ran a 4.55 and had a 40" vertical. Those are elite numbers for an 18 year old TE. My guess is Larsen is nowhere close to that. Which is fine. He doesn't have to be.

But, the measurable conversation always starts with the most elite guy at the position that is close in height, weight, etc. Factoring out the fact that said guy is usually elite for reasons that are not the comparable height/weight.

Never said he was Brock Bowers. Noone is. Just stating that he's not 6'6 like most TEs
