Angeli, Minchey, and Carr is the best three-man room we’ve seen here as long as I can remember, not that the bar has been very high. Lot of talent there and it would not surprise me one bit to see Minchey overtake Angeli in the offseason which would be fantastic news for all of us
Well after Hartman it will be an off year. All 4 stars but the best of which is a Freshman. They need to go to Portal.

I really wonder if the staff said to Bear and Deuce....whoever commits first?

It was interesting that Freeman didn't give Bear a lot of love.... now we know why! It will be interesting to see how he develops.

Hopefully get a 5 star for 2026~!

This kid has the cannon arm that should bring like 3 Will Fullers with him. Cannon. Fun to watch his tape.

Freeman was hella excited about it in his presser today. Enough so that he opened his presser with that he got some really good news today.
So if Deuce committed Fri night and MF2 got good news today…. Hmmmm who’s next to announce?

It's got to be a little humiliating for Bachmeier but he'll be fine. He was planning to visit places like Oregon and Michigan still anyway, right? He will have good options. And if the staff liked him better than Deuce they probably wouldn't have taken Deuce's commitment just yet anyway. Bear felt a bit like a backup plan the whole time.

That said, I do hope this is the end of QB recruiting. As one who, a week ago, was skeptical that Deuce comes here, I'll say I was pretty impressed with his video and his decisiveness. I certainly hope I was wrong. But also I'm sure Auburn and Ole Miss and Tennessee won't give up just yet either.

Huh?
Zaire, Kizer, Wimbush was just as good, if not better. Book was in that room too as a Freshman.

I think Minchey has a higher ceiling than both Zaire and Wimbush. If Kizer stayed his senior year, that ‘17 team is probably playoff bound if not better.

Think Minchey will be the starter next season

That was always going to happen. There isn’t a Hartman-esque portal guy I forsee being available. Guy was a unicorn this year

Eh. Who knows. Apparently Hartman wasn't going to be available until someone saw his look-alike brother going to law school at Florida and encouraged him to transfer there. Goes the story on TV broadcasts anyway.
But yes, Hartman's a unicorn not even so much on the field as in his leadership skills. You can't count on that annually. Pratt would be great. But also we should develop Minchey and Angeli.

Agree. If 2022 taught me anything, it's that unless you absolutely know that you have the  dude at the QB position, like a first round pick kind of guy, you should always be looking to get a transfer QB in. Protecting Buchner and Pyne's feelings in 2022 was an absolute disaster and was easily the worst decision ever made by Rees and Freeman in their times as coaches.

Minchey and Angeli should absolutely be developed, but if they can't beat Pratt in Spring/Fall camp then it's incredibly selfish to put the "ecosystem of the room" above the need of the team.

Disagree. Lot of young offensive talent coming in this year and next year. It's time to either start Minchey or if Carr is the real deal get him reps early. Have these guys build something as a class together.

Agree. I remember when Minchey committed the staff narrowed in on Hartman because they no longer needed to look at someone with 2 years of eligibility left at QB. I hope Minchey develops enough in the next 12 months where he is a serious option for QB1. No better guy to do it behind then Hartman

Hopefully now he just transfers to SB St. Joe.

Somewhat agree because our schedule next year is inviting. My biggest concern about a young qb is the oline, and that could take a significant step back next year depending on who stays and goes

Big picture, I think you are better off developing your own QB and ideally having him be the guy for two-three years. Instead of a string of one-year rentals. Also most transfer QBs are transferring because they're not good enough to start where they came from, so why would they be good enough to start at ND? (Though NIL deals mean that's probably less true than it used to be.).

I would love love love Minchey to be that guy, as I think he has a higher ceiling than Angeli. The trouble is you kind of have to know that by January, if you want one of the top QBs in the portal. If you wait until after spring ball you risk winding up in a situation like Bama's, taking someone else's spare parts.

Kids got a cannon and can throw a 40-45 bomb with ease, does anyone know how good of a runner he is?

I think Minchey is the QB next year as well watch the kids film he has the arm throws 45-50 yard bombs does he know how to read a defense tho? Also concerning is how much playing time will he get this year. Considering he probally redshirts? Problem is if Minchey is QB Angeli most likely transfers that leaves you with a 2 QB on the roster not a good situation. Ideally Minchey is the QB next year, Carr and Minchey battle out in 2025. I don't think Carr is the type whose expecting to come in and start right away he might be fine being backup for 2 years and taking over as a Junior.

Absolutely love this kid's physical traits. 6'4", 4.53 40, 41" vertical, and a strong arm. Rated a better athlete than Justin Fields coming out of hs. His tools are absurdly good. A really good qb coach can make this kid a superstar.

Agree, there's something to be said for a QB with a few more years of experience and maturity.

As far as Minchey or Angeli next year, I wouldn't write off Angeli just yet. He may not be the athlete that Minchey is, but, but he may be better between the ears. Time will tell.

The Schedule looks to be easy. Unless you have a mature QB like Hartman then go to Portal.

That’s the way Football is right now.
