Assuming he continues to trend upward, they'd give me a peak. But, in my opinion, OSU, Bama, Georgia, ND, USC, those types of brands don't NEED Deion, and I think he would be detrimental to those type of schools. Florida, Miami, FSU, all but a handful of SEC schools, he could work.

My personal opinion, is he goes somewhere in the state of Florida or Texas at some point, if he continues to coach. I've often wondered if he coaches because he loves it or does he coach because of his Sons. Has he ever NOT coached his kids?
I would expect TAMU to come calling in the next 2 years if they continue underperforming. Big money school that can ride on flash and shoot into the stratosphere with the right hype man. It'll likely burn down eventually but if their boosters could grab a single natty from it, I think they'd liquidate a chunk of their hydrocarbon havens.

It doesn't matter to me if someone is subconsciously-motivated toward self-aggrandizement or if they do it consciously to create a personality. Both are anathema to me. But which of those two is more genuine?

I forget the reporter, but the first press conference after they beat TCU and Sanders singled out a reporter about what he wrote etc. Guy was interviewed the next day and basically said "yeah, I never wrote anything about it." Sanders is playing this angle for everything he can. It works, so I guess good for him.
It was Ed Werder, he said on either the Dan Patrick show or Rich Esien’s show that he was confused because he hasn’t written an article in like 20 years

I get the impression that every week Deion is going to come up with some way to tell his team they are being disrespected and slighted. Like if they don’t say his kid should win the Heisman “it’s personal”.

What a world we now live in where the coach of a Power Five school can just give his entire team sunglasses right out in the open.

Getting free double meat on a footlong BMT at Subway was an NCAA violation not long ago.

I remember picking up a bunch of people at a drunken party in South Bend and a certain unnamed football player was in my backseat. He gave me $2 for the ride because he felt like it would be an NCAA violation if he got a free ride because he was a football player (even though I had no clue he played until he mentioned it). If that doesn’t tell you how uptight things were I don’t know what else would.

This is why Auburn fucked up not getting Prime. I posted as much when CU and not Auburn hired him

Which begs the question…why was Ed Werder covering a CFB coach? I’ve only known him to cover NFL.

If they lose, it'll be "I told you so."

If they win, whoever they beat isn't that good. CU beats Oregon, we'll know the reasons why Oregon lost. If they beat SC, it'll be SC's terrible defense.

That seems to be the parlance of some of the posters on this board within this thread. You have to wonder if there is going to be any kind of national and regional narrative like this too, and if DS gets ahold of it as long as they keep winning, it just feeds into this red meat he's throwing his players.

I don't think many people understand that the roster turnover was not only in terms of quantity but quality. They have really good players in there now. I think it was hard for most of the pundits to quantify let alone average football fans.
Lol……If CU beats Oregon or USC, I’ll tip my hat to him, but I want to see two good seasons back to back before I think he’s turned the program around and I would say that about any coach, not just Sanders.

Two wins and he’s a candidate for other jobs now? You have to love the media.

Loved Deion as a player and personality.
I remember watching the draft the year he came out and he was so happy Detroit took then"other" Sanders (Barry, lol) so he could stay in the warm south.

His smile was infectious and then he became Bo light with the baseball thing.
I loved when he became a mercenary and left Atlanta to help the Niners get over their Cowboy hump, then went to Dallas to do the same thing to them. It was awesome.

But no one is disrespecting or hoping he fails.
The whole public outcry about doubting a black man is disappointing.

His biggest W thus far. People going to love him for this.

What does that even mean? Are there still mask mandates in place at Colorado? Or is this yet another easy W “banning” something that hasn’t been a thing for like a year now?

So what? Deion knows how to work the media better than anyone.

What I will tell you, he has ADs rethinking the definition of a "Turnaround" and HCs that were previously given a 3-5 year runway may now be on a much tighter time horizon.

Well he has to win something of significance first. It's early in the schedule and they haven't really played anyone, and haven't finished a single season and gone to a bowl. Give it at least one season before we judge how good they really are. At the moment, it's a hype machine with tons of questions, as far as I am concerned.

BTW, my man Troy Aikman is down here in Cowboy country singing the praises of Deion and what he has done for college football to the local football media. So everyone is apparently buying into the hype so far, except I am not. I have always been a prove it on the field sort of guy. If he wins, I will congratulate him. But it is way too early to tell whether he can develop that program into a perennial title contender. It generally takes a few years of high level recruiting, which he doesn't have under his belt just yet.

As I write this, Deion is getting on stage on Gameday on ESPN. Should be an interesting watch for sure. I am going to count how many ways he says they have been disrespected.

Oh, and while he wears the cowboy hat all the time, that was not what he did when he played for the Cowboys. That is definitely schtick.

They didn't show the full clip where Deion banned masks.....

Just one minute prior, Coach Prime announced a ban of all CU games on Peacock....

He already beat the prior National Runner Up that was favored by 20+ at home and beat Nebraska.... while the coach was talking trash about him. He has won some games worth talking about.

This is at a school that won just 1 game last year and had 86 new players. Compare that with Freeman's first two games and what team he inherited and his off season moves and you have two different talking points. Deion definitely deserves discussion.

I think they win 6-7 games and get into some sort of Bowl which is an unbelievable turnaround at CU.

Sure he has made an impact, but that is different than winning it all. Let's see if he can do that and fulfill the hype. BTW I am agnostic on him as a person, just skeptical any coach can live up to the kind of hype machine he has built.

Oh, and TCU was overhyped. I live down here near Ft. Worth and could have told you they were never a legitimate contender. We all knew that, well except the TCU fan base that is.

Regardless, TCU had 20+ at Home. And CU was a total trainwreck before Prime showed up. It was a big win, regardless.

The other part of it is Deion hired great assistants too. For a guy who loves the attention he is smart enough to recruit better assistants as he made the jump up to FBS Power 5 conference play.

People absolutely were doubting him. All you heard was about how much different the P5 competition was going to be. Their win total was set at like 4 games. If everyone was so confident in Prime everyone would have hammered that over. Now people are already discrediting the TCU win lol.

Not to argue, but it is pointless to consider early season lines and rankings.

That being said, I give Colorado and Deion their props for now and we will see what happens the rest of the season.

Like when people said we were a top 5 preseason team last year. All the real fans knew that wasn't true with the questions at qb and wr.

And OC….and new HC. Kelly wouldn’t have lost the Marshall game. Marshall was a loss by an inexperienced staff. The team was better than a Top 15 finish. Losses to Marshall and Stanford happened as a learning curve on MF’s first year w an overrated OC and awful play calling. BK was too loyal and accepting of Rees. I don’t believe we will stupid losses this year.

Yeah, its a meaningless gesture. It's like him banning rides to Mars. However, there are people dumb/insane enough to think those are a thing anymore.

At the end of the day, he just wants social media engagement.

"All I was thinking was Brady mode. Simple. Brady mode. You left too much time out there," Shedeur Sanders told the ESPN broadcast after the game. "We talk after every game. I'm sure he's going to text me in a second. But that's all I was thinking is Brady mode, if he can do it, I can do it. We're just alike."
Shedeur has the same kind of access as Arch Manning at the end of the day. He's clearly putting in the work and has been for years, but it obviously helps when dad who is also the HC is an NFL HOF player that has these contacts for mentoring.
