The TCU win was very good,… TCU isn’t a playoff team this year but they aren’t going from that to four wins,… they’re a good program and that was a great win for Colorado

I'm still loving the "it's only TCU and Nebraska" bits. Nobody was saying that a few weeks ago. Everyone gets to say the same thing had it been Abilene Christian and Chadron State even when they beat Power Five schools after going 1-11.

Since the turn of the century this program has been to 7 bowl games and one of those was a 4-2 season during Covid. I really seems like "only" everyone has been kicking their ass for two decades. They win some games and it's no big deal because it's only TCU and Nebraska?

Weird.

I don’t think anyone was questioning him turning the program around, just the quickness of it. To be fair Nebraska sucks ass. They have brand power like Pizza Hit but every time I eat a slice I get shits and it’s garbage… like Nebraska.

TCU isn’t that great either. The Nicholls state game was 24-6 going into the 4th. TCU may not beat anyone worth a damn this year either.

Time will tell.

TCU was a good but not great win. I get TCU made the playoffs last year, but I’m one of those that wants to see more than a year’s results before claiming a team is in the upper echelon of CFB. Nebraska needs no explanation.

It's interesting what you find in this thread from the start of it to the finish.

While I do believe Colorado is still going to end up in the 5-6 win range this year, Deion has grown immensely on me since he was hired. As long as he stays at Colorado, I almost view him as an ally to ND because he will take some top recruits/transfers from the SEC (don't see him taking any from ND with rare exceptions like Dylan Edwards) which will further balance out the playing field. He also has publicly hated on Pat Narduzzi. In terms of his actual coaching, watching him on the sidelines is how I liked to be coached. My only annoyance is all the hype for what I see as a 5-6 win team, but I would feel that way about any team not named ND. I personally hope Deion is able to turn Colorado into a perennial top 15 team and he stays there as it's good for the sport.

I was questioning it and I'm still questioning it. I think he caught lightning in a bottle but I don't think he is a long term good coach. Ed Orgeron won a natty!

It's difficult for me to see a flashy, loud ego-centric guy like Deion having a long-term sustainable approach. His son has been way better than I expected. Dylan Edwards was equally important in the TCU game because he has unreal speed/acceleration. I'm shocked they've had as much success as they have but I really can't wait until they run headfirst into a wall.

At this point, I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm hoping for a series of successive calamities befall the team. I just don't think their approach can survive difficult times. That's what I can't wait for!

But there is no denying that Sanders has already outperformed what many of us thought prior to the season. Their entire organization has so much potential schedenfreude energy built into it. I'm just waiting for the pin to pop the balloon.

Perhaps the best way to explain it:

Marcus Freeman and Deion are polar opposites and one of their personality types I'm naturally drawn to and one I find repugnant.

I get that but Deion likely doesn’t care what a bunch of grown men who are fans think about him. Now ask yourself, “of the top HS prospects in America (not just the ones who ND can sign), which personality do you think they & their parents are attracted to?“

I want them to lose one just so see what he says afterward, because the idea coming from some that he's going to throw his players under the bus is totally unwarranted when you look at his comments in the postgame after his losses at Jackson State.

He was very candid about losing to South Carolina State in 2021:

“South Carolina State kicked our butts,” Sanders said. “In every way imaginable. They out-physicaled us, out-threw us. Much more disciplined than us. And I feel like we were over-confident and overlooked them, as if they were just going to hand us the game.”

This is coachspeak after blowouts that we've heard from just about everyone.

He's already exceeded many people's expectations after a couple games, but a big key is what will they look like next year after his son is gone and maybe even after their OC leaves for a better job? Regardless of how that goes, this season is looking like it'll be a massive success for Coach Prime and the Buffs. Nah they aren't gonna win 10 games, but even getting to a bowl and showing some real promise and enthusiasm from a long-dead fanbase is a massive massive W

Although Napier has a really good 2024 class in the offing I am sure any AD thinks Deion can keep the class in tact. Napier better start winning some games.

Imagine if Ohio State were to try to move on from Ryan day. I could see Dion near the top of that list.
Good because I do have concerns that if ND wins 10 games and beats OSU - Freeman might get a look by OSU. Let them take Prime. Freeman is a better fit here.

What??? You don’t think Neon Deion talking about himself grammatically incorrect in the third person would go over well at ND?

I mean I’m interested and certainly not a hater but this, ‘everyone hates him or is rooting against him’ narrative is already super old,… THAT is the only thing I’m kind of over at this point
I forget the reporter, but the first press conference after they beat TCU and Sanders singled out a reporter about what he wrote etc. Guy was interviewed the next day and basically said "yeah, I never wrote anything about it." Sanders is playing this angle for everything he can. It works, so I guess good for him.

Very interesting.

Bobby Bowden said in all his years of coaching there wasn't a player who wanted to win more or who cared more about his teammates. I know DS only played in SF for one season, but they won a Super Bowl and he was the difference that got them past Dallas. Not to mention he told Steve Young not to worry about all the PR stuff because it was all part of his persona.

When you cut past all of the hype and show, the guy just wants to win and we're in an era where supposedly everyone gets a trophy and kids are too soft. So the same people that don't like this guy and call him a clown are the same ones calling kids today too soft. He walked into a 1-11 program and tore it down entirely. However anyone feels about it, this isn't much of an enabling players coach we're dealing with here.

Lying about and bashing reporters only works short term, see Donald Trump, 2020.

I’ll be honest, I love Deion. Deion works at places like JSU and Colorado because his persona and theatrics generate the eyeballs necessary to increase the profile of the school and make it more attractive to recruits. His dynamism allows him to recruit great assistants to put around him. But, I truly think that underneath it all, Deion really is a good dude that cares about competing and doing right by his kids. Everyone vilified him bc he turned that roster over…turns out he was right. Their roster sucked. And he made it over in one offseason. And those kids he axes ended up at a lot of non P5 schools. Honesty hurts sometimes.

What I’ll be interested in is to see how he fares at a traditional power where it’s not as much about rebuilding as it is sustaining and winning championships. He’s not going to be long for CU, although I would think he’ll stick around until Shedeur is done—unless he still has a free transfer? What does a salesman do when he has a product that sells itself? That’s what intrigues me.

Assuming he continues to trend upward, they'd give me a peak. But, in my opinion, OSU, Bama, Georgia, ND, USC, those types of brands don't NEED Deion, and I think he would be detrimental to those type of schools. Florida, Miami, FSU, all but a handful of SEC schools, he could work.

My personal opinion, is he goes somewhere in the state of Florida or Texas at some point, if he continues to coach. I've often wondered if he coaches because he loves it or does he coach because of his Sons. Has he ever NOT coached his kids?

If they lose, it'll be "I told you so."

If they win, whoever they beat isn't that good. CU beats Oregon, we'll know the reasons why Oregon lost. If they beat SC, it'll be SC's terrible defense.

That seems to be the parlance of some of the posters on this board within this thread. You have to wonder if there is going to be any kind of national and regional narrative like this too, and if DS gets ahold of it as long as they keep winning, it just feeds into this red meat he's throwing his players.

I don't think many people understand that the roster turnover was not only in terms of quantity but quality. They have really good players in there now. I think it was hard for most of the pundits to quantify let alone average football fans.

Is that people’s fault or Dion’s fault? I feel like when you are a poster child for self promotion you’re asking for it.

I would say it would be split, more times than not...(most)Kids and uncles--> Deion, (most) fathers/mothers-->MF

If they beat USC or Oregon, or Washington, or OSU, I will be impressed. All those teams are far better than TCU or Nebraska this year. That being said, I like Deion. Love the job he has done at Colorado.
