Wow..... I'm all for criticizing a young mans performance but this is not a good take.

You'll find that our friend here is just full of em.

To be fair. I went through a real phase where there wasn't a thought in my head I didn't think deserved to be plastered all over the internet. Zero filter.

I've found some restraint over time.

I seriously think his decision could have been with a focus on getting into coaching. That’s the only sensible explanation.

5 and 417 is quite the discrepancy. I almost gave up looking for TB on 247’s list…kept scrolling though. They had Pyne’s transfer (332) ranked better than TB.

Buchner is so low on the list he's behind Storm Duck twice! Somehow Duck appears twice on that list at #159 and #247.

Scanning that list though...yeesh. Got "The highway's jammed with broken heros on a last chance power drive..." vibes.

Finebaum thinks Buchner will be starter.

I guess he was part of the group of people who thought Buchner was good.

I still like Tyler as a human and I wish him success off the football field. He really did ND a favor, our backup QBs have gotten a lot of reps that Buchner would've taken. We've seen both backups praised for their development and large steps taken. We now have 2 additional QBs who are ready to take snaps in games and help out when called upon and to help set the bar in the years to come.

I really thank Tyler for giving ND everything he had while here and for moving on when it seemed right. Go back and watch last year's film and we should all be pleased with where things stand.

As far as Coach Saban and Coach Rees are concerned, this transfer is one team uniform spot, and hasn't cost Alabama anything yet.

As far as our lamented young man is concerned, I'm sure that he regularly wows everyone with his occasional bursts of athleticism. far beyond the other two guys (just as he did here) and creates "visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads." Then he drops a turd in the
punch bowl. Coaches are at least a little bit gamblers. "If everything went just right, this guy could get us a championship" then reality
usually happens and the better coaches admit their mistakes rather than stubbornly sawing off their right arms. Rees and Saban both probably agreed (honestly) that Buchner MIGHT suddenly get it together, and it was a cheap risk to take.

If Buchner is named the starter I give him kudos because he's beat 2 guys out that have been in the program longer than he has.

I will be rooting for Buchner/Rees/Bama to get revenge on LSU & that coach they have.
That’s kind of odd. Not sure why’d you’d root for TB?

Regarding Kelly, LSU offered more money than Notre Dame. It was merely a business decision. 9/10 coaches are taking the higher paying job. Unless it’s your alma mater (Smart - Georgia, Harbaugh - Michigan), you’ve got no real loyalty to your school / team. They’re simply your employer. Nothing more. Nothing less.

TB, on the other hand, quit on the team, and went to a school where he was in no way a shoo-in to be the starter. Rees also left for the exact same position. It wasn’t a promotion, per se. Both basically quit on MF and ND after one-season.

article says Buchner is number 3

Yeah, I previously posted that:

“This will easily be a Milroe/Simpson battle. They may both get PT. TB left ND, as a second stringer, and potential starter for ‘24 to inevitably end up on Alabama’s third team.”

He put himself behind the 8 ball with the timing of his transfer. It’s mid August, and there isn’t enough time for TB to gain meaningful reps with the first team. Saban is preparing for Texas, and he’ll primarily use Milroe/Simpson for the remaining practices and MTSU game to assess. Buchner will be running the MTSU offense / scout team.

Yep, ND's offense is set up much better than Bama's for high level success. It comes down to coaching then.

I don't fault TB for leaving ND (he wasn't good enough), but he's insanely moronic if he thinks not good enough at ND is good enough at Bama.

How is leaving ND a “business decision” for BK but not for Buchner or Rees?

BK left for money or a perceived better shot at a title (I tend to think the latter was more a factor).

Rees left to advance his career by working under one of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport.

Buchner left for a shot to start this season after it became apparent he wouldn’t have that at Notre Dame.

Those are all business decisions, in one way or another. I doubt much of any of this is personal.
