LMAO

Drew Pyne did have a higher passer rating than McCarthy. LOL

Of course nobody on this board or Roberts believes that Pyne is a better QB. It's borderline absurd. But pointing out those stats to Michigan fan also lays out the absurdity of Harbaugh's statement. "Once in a generation" ..... Jimmy is smoking something. There must've been about 15 other "once in a generation" quarterbacks last year.

I shit you not I saw something earlier today citing "scouts" saying he'll be taken higher than Caleb Williams.

I actually think McCarthy is a baller and poised for a big year, but the hype of the past 24 hours seems out of left field.

The national sports media have really pushed the Michigan hype the last few years, so it only makes sense.

I’m still not convinced McCarthy is really any good.
Same.

He gets more credit for the Ohio State game than he really deserves. It was more about the truly abysmal defensive game plan and the absolutely laughable display of man coverage. I mean, Ohio State's moniker of DBU had to have been called into question after that game. Guys were sitting wide open by 5+ yards all game and Ohio State never adjusted ONCE. They were getting abused. It wasn't great placement or anything like that. He was literally lobbing it up to guys who didn't have a defender within 5 yards of them. It was insane. Pyne could've thrown it up to Matt Salerno and they probably would've scored on them that day.

McCarthy is a serviceable P5-level quarterback. He’s fine. Nothing special. Of course, so was Tom Brady.

Nah. I’m good. For someone who covered Notre dame regularly, I didn’t like the guy. His take after usc game that nd missed a chance to get usc while they are down and likely won’t beat them for years was hot trash
He was *bad* on The Shamrock. I spent a decade as a reporter and did his gig as a host covering a team/sport - I would never want to be in front of a hot mic if I knew as little about the current state of affairs as him.

Yeah it was pretty clear Fortuna didn't have much up-to-date understanding or inside knowledge of our program and was just trading off his previous time on the beat and covering I guess the ACC? (from Chicago?). But also Pete needed someone to talk with, so...

Anyway, we'll see what comes next for him but he never seemed like the most dynamic journalist on the college football beat, and without either a big-time team to cover or some serious reporting chops, it's hard to stand out.

his new venture is just a substack, so no affiliation and no sponsor. Dude's in a hole I dont know who would be a patron for him? Penn State fans??

I think Tyler Horker’s buddy “Jack” has Tourette’s similar to the physicist Kip Thorn.

You guys correctly bitch a lot about Jamie's wi-fi on Hit n Hustle, but Sampson needs to invest in some damn infrastructure at the house, too.

Listening to Pete on the II pod you get like 4 out of every 6 words and most of those make him sound like T-Pain at The Moon.

fucks sake.

Cover 3 released their ND summer school episode today. It’s my favorite cfb podcast even though Bud Elliott isn’t real popular around here.

- Peyton Bowen's had the most layers. Explained about 1/4 of them above. There was a player a few years ago that gave Notre Dame a silent commitment, which would have likely rocked the recruiting world at the time. But a school allegedly promised to get a family member out of prison, so he signed with them.

Matt made this comment in the thread. Wonder who this could of been. Its a solid thread. He answers a lot of questions.

I don’t know about prison, but the 5 Star DL Beal was going to ND if ND let his below average intelligence, sister in.
ND said no, & UGA immediately accepted her without transcripts.

I think it was Ed O back in the day who promised Adrian Peterson that he would get AD's dad transferred to a prison in California if he committed to USC.

And it's just coming out now? I'm calling a big load of B.S. on that one. Plus, what are subscribers paying these failed coaches (all of them are) for if not for this info when it comes out? They hide too much to be trusted. EJ Holland is just the extreme of what they all are.

It was Arrelious Benn. But it wasn’t to get him out of prison, it was to give him a scholarship for when he got out of prison. Illinois agreed and that was that.

More interesting thing to me is Matt saying there were 5-6 fights in a single practice and 1-2 outright brawls so far during fall camp. Was it Pinkett who said we need more edge and less choirboys? Doesn't sound like the team is lacking it.
