Andrew Ivins strikes again.

He just dropped 4 ND commits to 3 Stars.
One was a top 150 player when Ivins took over.
Without any football being played, Ivins dropped him out of the top 247, then in the next ranking dropped him to a 3 Star.

Ivins actually is that guy who HATES ND & its fans. (I know this for a fact because he said so himself when he worked at BGI).

If you have a 247 subscription, I would highly recommend dropping it & letting 247 know how you feel about Ivins being the Director of Scouting, with ZERO background in football, coaching, or scouting. He was a reporter. Period.

It really is bullshit that Ivins is in that position.

Weren’t they all previously three-stars by their own rankings?

Young, Knapp, Moore & Prescod remain four-stars in the 247 composite.

IB just went off on class rankings & the reality of them, which I found funny because they ALMOST gave BK credit.
They round-about did, but never said his name.

Someone asked about Weis’ 3 straight top 5 classes.
IB went through them & showed how flawed the rankings are because they give so much credit for 5 Stars, regardless how garbage the rest of the class is.
They went through all 3 classes, player by player, & the classes were rough.
Like Driskell, said, they couldn’t even put an 11 on the field, either side of the ball, in each class. And the ones they had never played.

They talked about classes since then (so BK era), and how balanced they all were, and how having starting 11 on both sides wins games, & having 4-5 5 Stars & holes everywhere else is how you go .500

I’ve always said that.
You need balanced classes.
The talk now is how a 5 Star QB changes everything. How about the top 5 Star QB, two classes in a row? That didn’t win, even with multiple 5 Star receivers, because everyone wise stunk.
Yes so IB and other analysts who actually make money $$$ talking about recruiting and class ranks are now jamming on class rankings now that ND isn’t really “shopping down another aisle” or “Gap Closing” any different than the BK era. Funny there was no jamming on rankings during the early honeymoon phase when we had the top classes early on. In fact that high rankings was cited to show how great Freeman was relative to BK. There was endless discussion using rankings to validate that position - all of it premature.

Then the true 5 stars and 4 Star southern recruits who usually commit later in the cycle selected the elite programs. Thereafter, the truly elite ND prospects like Keeley, Bowen and Moore went elsewhere. Now rankings are bad…. Got it.

ND’s OL neutralized that great Clemson DL. The problem was Book wouldn’t let it go in the passing game against Clemson’s weakness.
The D was fine. When Love left Lawrence immediately picked on Vaughn. Even then, he made 3-4 elite throws, two for TDs.
Even Clemson players & coaches said ND was better than Bama in their opinion.
Book struggled in those situations, Lawrence thrived in them.
Absolutely not. I just rewatched the whole 1st half on offense. We couldn't get yards in the running game, we had what looks to be about 15-20 for the half with most of the runs getting stuffed. The only times we were able to get yards in the running game came from a quick pitch and some Book scrambles. From a protection standpoint it was hit and miss, lots of pressure at times and a handful of clean pockets outside of that.

Book played very well through the 1st half. He made some tight completions. There was one odd drop by Claypool at the 1st down marker early that stalled a drive. There was also a play where Alize Mack caught a ball, made a turn upfield and the ball got knocked out...replay oddly overturned it as an incomplete when he clearly caught the ball and made a football move. Book did have a fumble, ball got knocked out late as he was hitting the ground and replay saw it. Other than that Book only had one bad pass, a checkdown to Tony Jones that hit the ground and frankly wouldn't have gone anywhere anyway because a defender was right on Jones' back. Clemson's secondary was pretty good in coverage, our guys got open a bit but a majority of the passing plays were duds because of the coverage. Book made some great passes to Claypool, Kmet, backshoulder to Boykin, Mack, they just weren't getting open that often.

The D WAS great for a lot of the game, but if you rewatch the 1st half where Clemson did most of their damage was the 2nd half when Love was banged up. Gillman also went out for a bit. During that period Clemson attacked Donte Vaughn and Vaughn struggled big time. There were 3 pretty quick scores to end the 2nd half and killed our momentum. We didn't have the depth to absorb the loss of Love and Gillman.

I still need to rewatch the 2nd half, but based on the Play by Play I doubt I'm going to see anything that changes my mind. Looks like a lot of sacks 2nd half from protection break downs and receivers being covered downfield. I don't know who these analysts are that think we win that game with Trevor Lawrence and Book switching places, but if I had to guess it's Driskell given the fact you just mention him and IB 4 times in a row in the Logan Saldate thread. That would explain a lot right there. Book could have been better, but just switching him for Lawrence was not going to win us that game. Clemson's defense was too good, and we didn't have the horses offensively.

Great video and great insight into why we struggle with some croots. See the youtuber - very popular college football personality - basically refer to notre dame as a european museum

I didn’t take anything in that video as a critique of ND itself.

Nah it was super positive and reflected a lot of good things about the school...but definitely shows why ND, which can indeed feel like a simulacrum of the historic quarter of a european city, doesn't exactly appeal to black teenagers like some of its recruiting competitors

Does anyone else get annoyed when Driskell says “gap closers?” He says it all the time. I mean, the guy acts like he’s the Mel Kiper of recruiting. The only “gap closer” that he’s familiar with is the distance between himself and a salami sandwich.

Vince DeDario on IB once again showing how clueless he is with football.

On the show from Friday, said that if you had Q & Martin as your guards in the NFL, it didn’t matter who your two tackles and center are, your OL would be elite.

What?

Dude, if you have an NFL team the lowest rated tackles & center, so still NFL players, and Q & Nelson at guard, not only would they not be elite, they would be bad to really bad.

So not elite, not really good, not good, not average, not below average, but bad to really bad.

It’s the freaking NFL.
If you have the worst tackles & center in the league, you are getting DESTROYED!

Vince is such an idiot. That’s the shit a fan says on a message board, not an “analyst” on a legitimate football site.

Respectfully, you are perceiving his role as analyst? He’s a nice guy with loyalty ties to Driskell, so why get worked up about it?
I personally don’t view him as an analyst.
But he calls himself that & it’s his official, paid title.
Driskell actually pays him to “analyze.”
LOL

Hey kudos to BD to being loyal to Vince. Vince seems like a nice guy.
Vince is a VERY nice guy.

But so is my dad & he knows shit about football.

Vince pretends he is better than others though.
He talks about BK, Jeff Quinn, Del Alexander, etc…as if they are all idiots & constantly says what they should do, and how he would do it better.
Vince deletes the post in chat everytime I list Jordan Johnson’s career stats at UCF, after he bashed BK & said he (Vince) could get Jordan Johnson a major role at ND as the coach. LOL

Getting worked about the ND beat is what 50% of the posters on IE do

Vince reeks of being unconfident.

Constantly saying “uh huh” or “yup” every five seconds into what Driskell says like some sort of parrot.

I believe he’s slightly intimidated by BD. He’s much looser when hes doing a show with Sean Stires.

TBF, he seems like a nice guy. However, his opinions are typically cr@p I'd see on this board from 90% of the posters too emotional to think rationally.

Same. Good video that showed off the football facilities. I know once when you get up to the elite-level schools, all of their facilities are incredible. Notre Dame's facilities looked great, in my opinion. Very refined and classy.

Tobias not knowing the origin of why the team he plays for as known as the Fightin’ Irish made me lol

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And what % of the OSU players know what a Buckeye is and why OSU calls themselves the Buckeyes?? They are College undergrads not Grad Students working in the History Department.

I think the video captured a somewhat accurate vibe of ND and in a positive, fun light. Tobias and Jeremiah are underclassmen that are great for ND.

If you want legitimate clickbait, EJ Holland is the undisputed king.

He literally just makes things up.

He has been posting all week 5 Star QB Underwood and 5 Star OL Sanders would be at Michigan today.
Neither are there. Underwood is at LSU, where he was always scheduled to visit.

EJ did this last cycle too. Kept posting about 5 Star secret visits, that never happened.
He would talk about Dante Moore secretly visiting Michigan, despite there being pictures of him the same day somewhere else.

And the Michigan fans just slurp it all up & nobody calls him out on it.

Somehow just listened to about 10 minutes of an IB podcast and couldn’t take it anymore. Based on a single practice it seems like we are in the playoffs. If these guys can’t say a single negative thing then they’re just being fans.

the thing with Michigan fans, particularly the turdiest kind is that they forgive all the Bullshit EJ comes out with because they know he irritates the heck out of fans of other teams (especially ND) or as they like to say "he lives rent free in their heads"

The problem is he talks more shit to other Michigan sites than he does to ND.
Webb threatened to fight him over Twitter. EJ can’t even show up to some events because other Michigan reporters have told him they are kicking his ass.

How anyone can continue to consume IB content week in and week out is beyond me.

IB is a pretty funny pod, even though they’re not trying to be funny.

Vince agrees with Driskell on everything, it doesn’t matter what the topic is. 3 hour podcasts are insane. I tried to listen to the sped up version, but I couldn’t get used to it. Listening them talk about the RB room, you’d think that all 5 will be Heisman finalist in December.

II has the best pod, and it isn’t even close.
