I think the reason it’s so successful is because it’s so basic. Translates to every other country really easily.
And it’s the most visually stunning movie probably ever which translates to entertainment for everyone …
It’s ok to be just entertained

Disney's new Snow White movie, staring a latina..... and the 7 "dwarfs"

It’s either they cast the dwarfs as normal-sized people, or they change the goofy nature of the dwarves so as to not offend the dwarfism community, which would ruin the story itself.

You’re in a no-win situation when you’re using that source material lol.

As for the tweet itself and the context about the multi-cultural cast?

Being mad that there aren’t enough white people, when the entirety of the Disney vault is pretty much white people or animals, is pretty snow-flakey, imo.

Avatar Is one of the weirdest movie properties ever. It has a theme park at Disney. Both movies have been nominated for best picture. The first is the No. 1 box office all time. The second is the No. 3. Only Avengers Endgame is above the second one. In terms of gross ticket sales the two films are above all other Marvel movies, Star Wars movies, Lord of the Rings movies, Titanic, Harry Potter, Disney, Fast and the Furious, etc.

And also basically no one cares about it.

If you emerged from a time capsule and read the first paragraph, you would probably think it was one of the biggest cultural phenomena of all time. But beyond being known as the "they're really expensive/pretty" movies, there's been basically no major cultural impact. Almost every actor in the Avatar movies are more famous for a different role. No one quotes it or references it. Most people don't particularly care about Jake Sully or any other character. The soundtrack is good, but most wouldn't immediately recognize it in the same way they would most of the other properties listed above. Other than jokes about how bad the name "unobtainium" is, there's not even any notable memes that come out if it. If you talk to anyone about it you typically get, "Yeah I liked it. Really neat technology." and then the conversation just ends.

I don't know how to better describe it, but it feels like there's this huge vacuum of nothing where the Avatar cultural impact should be.

Have Disney investments and strategic decisions impressed you lately?

As soon as Peter Dinklage came out against them using dwarf actors for those roles there’s no way they actually could. Kinda a dick move by him IMO. Not that many roles for dwarves in Hollywood other than him.

I think when it’s obviously intentional, that’s to only appease the snow flake group

And yet you abuse your own children by lying to them about “god,” filling their heads with falsehoods about heaven and hell and other superstitious bullshit.

As evil as the sexual abuse of children is, the brainwashing that is done by people like you, to those they supposedly love, is almost as depraved.
Thank you for coming to the aid of Toronto, typical. At least you are honest with yourself. Although you miss when you claim the falsehoods of heaven and hell and call it superstitious, but then cite that something is evil. The origin of the word evil comes straight out of the book of Christianity.

I spent the last 20 minutes trying to add to this substantially and couldn't lol.

Watched the movie Passengers with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. Not my kind of movie but with Pratt being an Avenger and Lawrence being the Mockingjay I guess I expected them kick some alien ass at some point. 5/10 probably.

I’ve tried to watch avatar a few different times over the years. It takes at most twenty minutes each time and I’m done

"Beau is Afraid." I read a review that called it "an ambitious failure" and I suppose that's a good, quick descriptor but it doesn't do justice to just how unrelentingly weird & self-indulgent the movie is. I think the writer/director was trying to channel David Lynch and missed the mark. Plus, it's almost 3 hours long and you feel every minute of it because it goes all over the place. There's material for 2 or 3 separate movies and that may have been the way to go; make two distinct movies and keep it on track. This strikes me as a movie that will garner a cult following of people who will whine "but you just don't get it!" I don't think there is any deep message to get. It's a movie about an emotionally stunted, pathetically lonely man that goes in a bunch of strange directions that aren't very compelling. I don't even recommend it for the curiosity factor. I had to watch "Roadhouse" afterwards to cleanse the artistic pretentiousness out of my brain.

When you break it down, it’s just a full length cartoon or as they like to say animated feature. I would think most watch those strictly for entertainment and don’t try to make a connection like they might in a movie with actors.

What if I think both sides are snowflakes? If you care about the color of people in a terrible live action Disney movie (whether wanting them POC, or upset that they are POC), you need to touch grass.
On one hand I'm with you. Plenty of much more worthwhile things to care about. On the other hand, protecting culture is worthwhile.

I've tried and failed to watch the new one for the better part of a month. I keep falling asleep. Restart from the approximate time I fell asleep.

I feel like it’s pointless to try and watch Avatar anywhere other than the theater. The spectacle is such a massive part of those movies appeal.

Good thing the school we all love and root for isn’t a part of that scourge,…….
I admit my own hypocrisy especially considering the Church has been at the forefront of child sexual abuse…it makes my stomach churn. I try to think of all the good the Church has done, but…
