First half is right, second half is a bit too excited. It’s a good school.
Yep.

When I was applying for colleges, I applied for UGA and Georgia Tech.

I could've easily gone to UGA if I so chose.

I had ZERO shot of getting into Tech. They couldn't mail that denial letter soon enough.

College recruiting as a whole is pretty gross. I think this falls on the coaches because there probably is not a very good Plan B.

Miles to Texas Tech, Mencke Jr. to Duke, Nelson to Nebraska, and Canion to GT. Brutal.
Yeah its been decades in the wilderness since some level of administration turned on Holtz. But I can not remember a year of guys we wanted going spurning us for that tier 3 or lower shit. Bloody hell

The “trend” right now is disturbing
Ship needs a captain not a girls water polo attendee in Baltimore at the moment. It is his ass and he is our best evaluator, coach, and salesman. It is time he stops glad handing and starts grinding or it’s gonna be a miserable four more years before the next coaching search.

Think people are overreacting after a few recruiting losses. Canion was wavering less than a month after he committed.

End of the day, the staff has 6+ months to focus on getting a few difference makers that will change the perception of the class since we’re already at 13+ 4 stars, not even including Lambert.

Most importantly, we have an elite QB committed, which is worth 2+ 5 stars at other positions.

I think part of our problem with recruiting is other schools are stepping up their NIL pay for play and we continue to not be on board with that. You have to make exceptions for certain players if you want to win a title.

I wonder how GT feels about a future student saying 110%?

Also, can’t wait to skull pound them the way we did Derrick Allen & whoever the other GT transfer from ND was, like we did last in 21, when it was 55-0 five minutes into the 2nd half.

While I don't want to ever lose a kid to Georgia Tech...it's a Georgia kid. Not everyone is cut out for moving far from home
I mean, yes. But now it's a trend of several guys ND has targeted choosing to stay home.

If ND is going to recruit nationally. They have to win these recruitments. If we're not going to beat OSU for the Scott's and KVA's. And we're not going to the UGA's for Reddell's and Cole's. Then we need to beat the regional schools for the recruits we want at a very high rate.

In fact, that is how I think Freeman wins a natty. By taking the very best out of these regions that might not be obvious UGA, Bama, OSU prospects.

I'd agree when it comes to Canion and Nelson.

I don't agree when it comes to Mencke or Miles. I think there are better guys out there and it's likely they got them already.

Just wasn't a big fan of either of them. I'm not a TBP fan either, but at least he has the ringing endorsement of a lauded coach that the staff trusts and we have yet to really see any film of him at safety. And Tae Johnson is flat out a better athlete than both of them and has a far higher ceiling at safety than either of them.

I'm not surprised. But that doesn't matter if there are better guys out there. There is a board. They were higher on the board than others, they were prepared to take them and didn't land them.

They missed on Mencke and Miles. Them the facts. It happens.

One wide receiver one that did good there.
If you are good you are good.
FCS kids get drafted.
ND had 3 TEs from the same team get drafted. Brock Wright & Durham Smyth were backup TEs at ND & still are in the NFL.
This isn’t 1980. Every team is on TV & everyone, if good enough, gets exposure.

It kind of does matter.

The board isn't static. We saw that with Owen Wafle. Some guys move up the board, some guys move down.

They could've offered Mencke and Miles earlier, but they didn't. They offered Urlacher before either of them, despite being rated lower than both.

But the premise was that these are battles ND HAS TO win. I disagree with that. ND pivoted pretty quickly. They could've taken Malcolm Ziglar, but with Tae Johnson in fold, they decided to flat out offer TBP before Ziglar even showed up on campus. Seems like ND had a list of guys, brought them in and saw which they had the best chance at. TBP wasn't even on the board at the time. They could've waited for Ziglar to visit and gauge where he was, but they didn't.

Yes, every recruit that goes elsewhere is because the board isn't static and we didn't really like them.

It's like Chad Bowden sings that into your ear as you dream of Freeman at night.
