Ehh I wouldn’t say Kelly develops his players we have had tons of high ranked guys flop under Kelly
He had his formula that worked for a lot of players… we will see this year at wr lb and dline especially if our coaches can develop

I know several on here will consider it blasphemy, because there's a tendency to lump all state schools together on here, but UGA isn't exactly some podunk state school where they teach whittling either. It's just barely below GA Tech in the US News rankings and is firmly above most of the rest of the P5 schools. Add in the winning, the pro pipeline, Athens, and proximity of Atlanta as a major media market (that largely bleeds red and black).... getting kids out of Georgia is going to be a pickle.

You are correct for the average student.

The football team at Georgia isn’t the average student. Like there QB still has no degree hanging on his way.

You’re right, it is. Not sure how much that applies to the football team (to be fair I’m not sure how much it applies to the football team at Ga. Tech either) but UGA has a lot to offer the kids it wants.

That said, we’ve done fairly well lately with a certain type of recruit from Georgia. Basically Atlanta-area private schools. Kyle Hamilton, etc. Similar in Charlotte and some parts of Fla.

I’m just not sure we’re ever going to be all that competitive for your typical top-tier recruits from Southern public schools though, for a lot of reasons most of which are out of the hands of our coaching staff.

You can compare rankings all day long. Only a few schools, ND being the most prominent, are actually interested in the football players’ educations and make them get a good education. Most schools help guide them through the process for the exclusive purpose of keeping them eligible with the least amount of effort from the kids.

US News rankings are rigged for the big public schools. That being said, UGA is a great school and is underrated outside of the South. Gets lumped in with South Carolina, Bama, and Ole Miss in the northeast too much.

First half is right, second half is a bit too excited. It’s a good school.

This.

And the elite southern pub school is their rival and just to the south plus Bama / Clemson are next door.

Still, there's room for ND to sneak a couple out each cycle.

Yeah but no 5 stars. Look at Georgia, Bama ect 5-8 5 stars in ever class you can’t compete with that with 3 and low 4 star guys

If you believe the services and side with them that Hamilton wasn't a 5 star that's a you thing.

But besides that, yeah.

I agree Hamilton is or was, Carr and Williams are right there point is there’s like 15 5 star DL in the state of Georgia alone in this class they can go pick whoever they want we don’t have that Luxury.

Nope. Those days are over. No use trying to figure out a way to bring back the late 80's. The only model that works is the one that led to Clemson winning their 2016 title. But NIL just kept Keeley & Rushing out of South Bend so don't hold your breath on that plan either.

If only there was something ND could do about NIL keeping away elite prospects who are perfect fits at ND...

Yeah I don’t care how good Freeman is I think without NIL last years class is top 5 and this years is probally right there. If he can’t get top 10-15 classes that’s about as best as it’s gonna get

Really easy to claim Hamilton is a five star after he played great in college

Ratings mean nothing for the individual but mean a ton as a collective for the team… you are going to miss less with 5 stars than 4 than 3

Everyone thought Hamilton was a 5 Star going into college too outside of one person (kind of like now with Carr & Power).
He went to the Opening Finals back when they still had it & was the defensive MVP and then the #1Safety & 12th overall player.
At that time, there was this huge fight between Rivals & 247 became 247 stopped allowing outsiders to attend. So Rivals literally stated that as far as they were concerned that event never happened, thus Hamilton wouldn’t be rated off it.

Quit moving the goal post. Your original gripe was not enough guys from the south. Now it’s not enough high 4 star and 5 star guys from the south.

Which is a weird argument to make when you were whining that Isiah Canion, a low 4 star recruit, decommitted.

FWIW, Loy confirming that the family went dark on Stuckey over the last 48 hours and it was another family that informed him of the decision. That’s pretty wild if true.
See, that confirms it all the more to me that this wasn’t his decision on his own. I work with kids every damn day and most of them are pretty awful at not being genuine. You don’t go from dunking on your future HC to not communicating within a week on your own without some influence. Chalk another one up to meddling family.

My point is at the end of the day… ratings matter for the entire teams success…if we only land players that we think are 5 star players despite them not having the rating, it’s just not going to work out overall.

If that's the case, then I feel bad for Isiah. That's a really shitty thing to do to ND and to him.

How any decent parent can tell their kids to ghost the coach that's invested this much time into recruiting them doesn't deserve any respect.

If you don't want him to go, be upfront with them. Or better yet, let Isiah make HIS decision, because y'know, it's HIS decision.

Crazy to believe they like him more than Wingo.

I like Canion a lot, but Wingo has crazy upside.
Just a reminder: On Wingo’s thread there was talk of schools backing off of him because his Junior tape wasn’t as good as his sophomore tape (or showed no improvement). That lead teams to believe that he was peaking without a great upside.

7-10 years ago we didn't hear some of the things we do during a recruits recruitment as much as we do now, yes the game has changed, scary to think what recruiting will be like in 5 years from now.
