He's basically identical to Jordan Reed on his 10 and 40 yard dash times.

I also encourage everyone to look at how PFF graded tight ends for 2022. In short, I see no reason that, barring injury, Mayer will be anything less than top 15 next year. His balance is key and that is what is needed for most NFL teams.

Being a Raider fan, I love the fact that Mayer is playing for them and hopefully will fulfill the title "baby Gronk" in the years to come. Hopefully, the next best Raider TE to that of former Irish Dave Casper (HOF)!

Really surprised to see big Mike only has 1 target and 1 catch for 2 yards through 2 games. Is he running routes and not being targeted or are the Raiders just keeping him on the line to block? Either way, I hope they unleash the beast at some point!

This is the biggest flaw I see in the nfl.... your career trajectory really depends on which team drafts you... you get a shitshow situation and is tough to overcome... this sucks for such a good player

Bengals fucked up when they passed on him. Myles Murphy was their 1st round pick, he's sitting at 3rd on the depth chart. Irv Smith has only pulled in half the balls sent his way, 5 receptions for 20 yards. Getting stuck with the Raiders is not good.

Raiders don't really utilize their TEs. That passing offense goes through Davante Adams and not a lot else. Also, Jimmy G ain't that good. Mayer hopefully gets traded to a good team.

Jimmy G is fine. And, if anything, likes to hit his TE. It's more the system they have right now than anything. TEs aren't priority.

Jimmy G. missed a BIG gainer to Mayer on the play where he threw a bad pass on the run. Doubt the big Mike would have scored, but he would have racked up a shitload of yards!

Not a Raiders fan, and don't watch them much, but seems like a situation where McDaniels is too smart for his own good.

You dial up two early plays for Mayer, they work extremely well... then you just go away from it the rest of the day aside from one more target later on? Adams is great, as is Jacobs, and they won... but they won because of their defense, not because their offense was cashing in.

GET MAYER THE FOOTBALL. It will loosen things up for both Jacobs and Adams if you've got two legit threats at TE.

Before the last game Davante Adams had 50 targets while the TEs had a combined 6. They doubled that number after the last game, but to date yeah...they've been ignoring the TEs in Las Vegas.
Also, Jimmy G is 25th in yards in the league, he hasn't broken 1,000 yet on the season.

I'm a big Lions fan and was very critical of them picking Laporta over Mayer. Laporta has looked so good. From the looks of it the Lions might have the best draft class in the NFL this year which is very unusual for them

I still think Mayer will have the better/longer career, he just needs to get away from Las Vegas. I think he's got a chip on his shoulder with all the disrespect he's been given. He's a competitor that is always trying to get better, he'll use it.

It didn't come as a surprise to a lot of people. His combine and workouts were raved by the NFL people. Honestly, when he ran the 4.59 forty, every ND Michael Mayer fan boy should have taken notice.

Michael Mayer was big on basketball until later in high school, which a lot of people don't remember. He's still learning the game compared to a lot of guys.
