IMO Ludwig would have been a good not great hire. I can see why Swarbrick may have thought that buyout was insane for a guy who floundered around for so many years.
I'm catching up so SIAP; but in my opinion it's still a bad look for Swarbrick to promote Freeman yet one year later, snub him when he identified a candidate who he thought could help progress this offense. Do you trust Freeman or not? Why the heavy handed micromanaging when he finds his guy? What does Swarbrick know about offensive philosophy that Freeman doesn't? It shouldn't be his call to make; and if he really wasn't comfortable with a buyout, you don't green light a flight to SB.

You don't invite a candidate, wine and dine him, and parade him out at a hockey game on Friday night unless you have the red tape removed to be able to execute an offer. If $2.8M or $4M or whatever the buyout was going to be for Ludwig &/or Harding was going to be an issue, you don't even invite him out. If ND was really "hoping" that Utah would negotiate that buyout, again shame on them; hope is not a strategy, especially with legal contract for someone Utah clearly values given the details of his recent extension.

It's a sloppy, inexcusable look by the administration, Jack included.

“Mike Frank suggests we call up Denbrock. Says he thinks Harry would stay if he was coming. Hire a QB coach and be done with it.”

Yeah, let’s bring Kelly’s whole offensive staff back.

The Denbrock idea got me thinking,.... There are close to 50 million kangaroos in Australia and something like 3.5 million people in Uruguay which means if the kangaroos were to invade Uruguay, each person will have to fight 14 kangaroos.

@Joe T. I believe the focus (as of last night) was more on NFL quarterbacks coaches. As much as Gerad Parker's name keeps coming up on message boards, when I talked to people involved he's either not mentioned or mentioned with "I don't think that's the plan."

The pay-site guys would probably get their access back, though, so win for them.

FootballScoop named Spencer Whipple, AZ Cardinals Co Pass Game Coordinator. It doesn’t seem he’s a QB Coach though, mostly bounced around skill positions

Jim Bob Cooter is happening! In all seriousness, he’s a pretty good OC
He (allegedly) broke into a house and fell asleep in a strange woman's bed (strip down naked). Not likely to happen

I seriously can't believe they didn't see this kind of response coming from the CFB world at large.

Here's the thing: I like Marcus and I think he can be a great coach. But ultimately, he was picked last year because ND doesn't want to spend money. They never have. It's why Jenkins came back from Utah without Meyer on the plane. It's ultimately why they didn't get Jon Gruden. It's always half-measures because from an institutional view, they are uncomfortable going all-in.

Who do you suggest they spent the money on?

I take an hour break from here and then come back and I'm totally confused LOL

You're confused because we're all confused.... Not one person has any idea wtf is going on.

But naturally everyone is in meltdown mode over possible truths and conspiracy theories.

“ND will not move on, you need to "move on" stating he should be a candidate.”

Ok chief. Guess no forgiveness for a seemingly drunk, innocent mistake. Very Catholic.

These reporters are really enjoying the opportunity to capitalize on an ND misstep. It’s insane the hate this program gets.

Breaking into a woman's bedroom, striping down naked is a opportunity killer at ND. Forgiveness does not equal freedom from consequences. Move on .
