I feel that we are too behind here.

Regardless of where he commits to, Scott is not the type of prospect you stop recruiting. It aint over until he gives out a restraining order.

And even then.....
This coming from somebody who was pretty damn pessimistic about us actually landing the guy.

Scott clearly has had serious interest in ND and if he really was all in on NIL, he'd wait it out. That and ISD just posted an update saying that ND made HUGE strides this week.

I'd be surprised if ND wasn't the pick on 31 Jan.

....That being said, even if he picks ND in 3 weeks, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he doesn't ultimately sign with ND.

I’d be shocked if it’s us. And even if it was I’d have Keeley nightmares

I'd be surprised if ND wasn't the pick on 31 Jan.

First, lol.

I’m firmly in the middle. He was talking about visiting elsewhere like Michigan in the spring yesterday. Now he’s committing in two weeks. So something materially changed and that theoretically could be ND. I wouldn’t be shocked by any result. ND, Colorado, Michigan, Miami anything.

If it is ND, we celebrate it on Jan 31st but I’m not sure it still doesn’t smell odd. And I’m usually the one smacking down that talk.

I think if anyone has read the updates from multiple sites, and isn't surprised the pick would be us, I don't know what to tell them.

It seems very apparent that ND is the pick because of the timing between his decision and ND just happening to stop by that day.

That being said, I'm also unsurprisingly skeptical that his commitment sticks. If I'm Freeman, I keep recruiting guys like Lindsey or Umeh. Hell, I'd probably do it even if Scott signing is a certainty.

I don’t believe I’ve made any opinion on Scott until now, so I’m not understanding the past tense you used in your first paragraph.

ND was not coming after Scott hard the last few months. A lot of other big time programs had been.

One magical visit from Freeman and Co. has nothing to do with him pushing up his timeline.

Shaun Davis felt that Scott is just getting exhausted with the recruiting scene.

I have very limited access to any premium sites. My optimism will be withheld until I see some predictions coming in.

ISD seems to disagree. They've made serious traction.

Seems like that magical visit has A LOT to do with him pushing up his timeline. What else would there be?

Also really don't know where this notion that ND hasn't been coming hard after Scott came from. They have. Just because it was looking bleak for a while doesn't mean that ND wasn't shooting their shot for him.

It seems in recruiting that being in a kids backyard doesn't matter any more, but as good as this kid is it should.

Washington recruited big names while at OSU and if he were still at OSU this is still in his region.

If Freeman were still our DC I would feel good about this one, this one Washington needs to get.

Obvs being "committed" doesn't mean much anymore, and being at a Catholic school in Chicago doesn't mean much anymore. But this might be one where if he commits to Notre Dame, being at a Catholic school in Chicago would help a lot. Especially if he's truly tired of the process and doesn't want to spend the next year going on a lot of elaborate visits.

He'll have a lot of pro-ND voices in his world, and he's close enough to come visit whenever he wants. Only other school he's seriously looking at with those built-in advantages is Michigan, and their NIL game is even weaker than ours. They won't swoop in with the late bag. So IF he commits, it feels like there's a better chance he sticks than some kids.

That's what I'll tell myself anyway. ;)

We literally just went through the Bowen saga. Commiting on 1/31 had nothing to do with his level of all in on NIL. Long time until '24s have to put pen to paper.

Yea according to some poster this kid likely doesn’t know St Ignatius is a Jesuit institution. Clueless.

Saint Ignatius is an elite school in Chicago - it’s one of the few that have kids go to ND every year. It would be akin for a prospect from Bennett Academy or Loyola recommitting from ND. It would get considerable notice doing that.

While this is true Scott committing early doesn't mean he's going to flip 100% lol. If he commits to ND and starts taking a bunch of visits elsewhere? That's a different story. (For the record I don't think he picks ND)

It’s just referencing an old running joke on here about Jesuits (Boston College is Jesuit).

It does seem something def changed post Peyton Bowen.. I mean maybe that woke up people that ND needs to change via NIL to compete... maybe a TV deal is going to really shake up revenue for ND.. maybe Hartman momentum but since the Bowen fiasco ND has some real momentum in recruiting.. and not just verbals but getting actual quality players in the portal.. this kid is a stud and difference between Bowen and Keely he is in our backyard in ND country and school with I am assuming both coaches and family in our corner... not sure if LAX or anyone has any inside info but that is my perception...

FWIW Keeley also went to a very good high school and had a lot of coaches and family friends in our corner. So no guarantees. But it can't hurt.
