Anyone know WTF happened to this kid this year? I mean, I'm sure he's not thrilled with having a low-talent pigme behind center, but these drops are next level inexcusable for a D1 WR, let alone one who's supposed to be WR1 at ND...

He is so much better than he’s been playing in recent weeks. I don’t get it.

He reminds me of a RB in the sense that he is never able to get in a rhythm. The pass game is so bad it is probably hard for him to be in a rhythm. The rare times we throw to him, he seems like he isn't expecting it

Could just be a sophomore slump. We know he's got the talent to be WR1, and no one on the roster is better positioned to win that spot than Lo. If he's got the desire, Chansi will get him there.

I hope you're right, but have we had a WR with frying pan hands as blatant as this? He's the Chuck Knoblauch of ND football right now.

Can't figure it out. Either he's lacking confidence or is checked out. Really hope it's just a confidence thing. We could use his.best self

i'd try him out at DB in the spring 100% see if he can get his mojo back at corner/FS

He's out there blocking on each play (outside of when we are in 13 personnel), so it's more probably more of a confidence thing. Rees and Freeman wouldn't have him on the field for this run-heavy offense if he is not showing a willingness to block.

He better figure it out fast because there’s 5-6 capable freshman coming in hungry for snaps

Coming in I would rank the 2021 WR's as Sytles/Colzie, Thomas, or Colzie/Styles, Thomas. Colzie has been bothered by the injury bug and did we ever think Thomas would outplay Styles?

I agree with Whiskey- he is having a sophomore slump. Last year he showed flashes of what he could be. I think he does better with a better QB.

It’s kind of like the SS in baseball who can make all the throws but then starts overthinking the throws to 2nd base which results in multiple bad tosses……its all mental with Styles, he‘s trying too hard and not catching the ball naturally.

I could see him transferring after this season. No real inside info just a guy feeling
People keep saying this but why?
I kind of get it if Pyne is our QB again next season but he almost certainly won't be. And Styles isn't exactly playing his way to the top of the transfer charts. He'd likely have to step down in quality of program. Or he can be our best returning WR.

Mayer is playing both TE/WR, if ND didn't have Mayer and Styles was playing this way I could see a possible transfer.

I think Styles can be ND's #1 WR next year.

had 11 snaps on O versus Clemson which is less than Colzie and Merriweather

I think everybody does better with a better QB. Our WRs never get warmed up. With Lyne in there we will never see a quick slant again.

Austin had a number of drops last year too, along with Lenzy. I didn't expect this from Styles though, he was on fire the 2nd half of the season. I thought he'd really take the next step this year, but obviously the QB situation hasn't been ideal and we've evolved into a RTDB identity on offense.

You don’t get many chances with Pyne as the QB so you better take every chance you can get.

I saw his snap count was down. But did he play less after his drop? I guess I didn’t pay attention to that.

Lorenzo Knoblauch. Kid's got the yips. He probably needs a little sports psych rehab and honestly a game or 2 off to get himself straight.

Wasn't it strongly rumored he was heading to Ohio St to play with his brother? Wonder if he'll take the yips with him. If so, he'll really be playing with his brother because he'll be a DB.

He’s really fighting the ball. And, at this point it’s gotta be in his head. Hopefully they work him through it because he's a heck of an athlete.

With that said, if he can’t catch it, maybe he can tackle it. Some thought he’d be a better DB out of HS.

Supposedly that's what OSU wants/wanted him for.

He almost left last year but stuck around and was supposed to be the focal point of the passing game this year… and just didn’t produce. Best of luck to him playing DB at Ohio State, if that rumor is true, or WR wherever he ends up.

He was still playing gunner on STs and hustling hard on that Diggs TD. Blocks hard for his size out wide. So wasn’t really pouting.

Would love to see him try out defense here like Sainstril at Michigan.

Loy says both sides are frustrated but talking through things. Styles I'm sure is frustrated with his lack of targets and involvement, but he sure gives full effort blocking for others and continued that last night. Hopefully something gets worked out and he sticks it out.

His profiles are still full of ND pics fwiw including two story posts with ND stuff from after the game. Not a case of scrubbing ND from his profile at least
