Well, we can now close this chapter.

He's a talented dude. I would have loved to see him in Irish uniform. But, his priorities need to be reflective of those that are on the team. The truth lies somewhere in the middle, but he played the NIL game, manipulating and lying along the way. I don't know how we would have fit on the roster and within the program.

That being said, I'm sure he'll do well at Oklahoma, and as long as he stays healthy, he'll get a shot at the NFL.

Hard disagree, no one brings more to the table than Tom Haverford.

Man. If he was here, he'd someone convince himself that Michigan has a Top 5 class full of sleepers, that would make ND players look like chumps if they were to ever take the field together.

When was the last time Oklahoma’s defense has been any good??I don’t think it’s gonna change anytime soon.
This makes no sense. Venables has had great defenses everywhere he's coached (including as the DC at OU). You think he suddenly is going to forget how to coach or evaluate talent? If he hasn't already, he is going to find a someone to be a quality DC.

Oklahoma is gonna get goat raced in the SEC
No they’re not,… the sec on whole is the single most overrated entity in sports and has been since their top few teams carried the sport and the conference got collective credit for it,… OU 9 years out of 10 will crush 3 quarters of that conference.

They finished 6-6 in the Big12 which is 10x worse than the overrated SEC.

Oklahoma is going to be the new A&M.

Yeah but Oklahoma barely went .500 in the freaking Big 12. And the Big 12 has virtually no NFL talent. They will be entering the SEC something like ~7th in talent behind Bama, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. So they are going to have to out-coach or out-scheme opponents to do better than 8-4 in a typical year.

I don’t think it will affect OU and UT, but a conference shift can cause a negative shift in recruiting footprint.

Pre-Big Ten, Nebraska had a decent amount of recruiting clout in Texas. After changing, they slowly became forced to recruit the Midwest and Plains more instead. Their record and talent level is starting to show that.

Struggle to go ~8-4??? So they’re basically Missouri then,… maybe a tad better at best? ok. I’ll pin this, save it and revisit in a few years. I’m not so sure of much in terms of ‘years from now’ predictions anymore but I’m very sure of this one. They’ll struggle with Bama as long as Saban is there, UGA etc like everyone else. Once they settle in they’re not going to struggle to win 8+ games most years, they’ll still be OU more than not.

Missouri does not struggle to go 8 - 4. Outside of their hot start, they struggle to win 6 games in what has been a weak SEC East.

The more likely path OU goes down is that of Arkansas, who has the ability to win only 3 or 4 games when bad but 8 to 10 when good. Arkansas and Oklahoma both have decent money (more than Ole Miss and Miss St) but still are not the flagship universities of where they get talent (Texas).

And Aggie loses dearly. All those TX kids who might want to play in the SEC and aren’t on Bama or UGAs radar will now go to UT or OU instead of that shithole in College Station.

OU gets a Heisman QB like every other year. Arkansas treats Clint Stoerner like royalty.

We are not the same.

Lincoln Riley gets a Heisman QB every year. Lincoln Riley is no longer their coach.

That’s fair, but I have a hard time comparing a blue blood, perennial playoff participant/contender to…..Arkansas.
