Garrett is the guy you hire if your previous coach was caught in some scandal or is a scum bag like Hugh Freeze or something. He will give you some presentation and integrity but a program/team that’s gonna be soft. Lovie Smith at Illinois was the same stuff

I don’t remember Illinois having an issue right before Lovie. Or did they have some issues with alleged player abuse or something? I thought Lovie was brought in because the people in charge remembered his good Chicago years and not anything else.

Wonder what happens with Armstrongs transfer now - was rumored to be going to Syracuse.

He prolly would've had to take a paycut and he's dead set on NFL at this stage I'd think. Plus his job is fricking cake. I don't blame him tbh.

He was probably ready to sign on the dotted line when he saw a pic of the 100 people that attend a game.

Mute live sports. I have been doing so for years. It cleanses your soul. If you choose not to, nobody wants to hear you bitch, especially the people with mute buttons and clean souls.

Nobody wants the Stanford job. That was my favorite rivalry for a little while. Beats having Navy snap the legs of your DL.

I know Stanford isn't going to pay huge but how much do broadcast TV analysts make?

Boy I was wrong about Shaw. He really has left Stanford in worse shape than he found it.

Seriously Garrett might have the best job in the country. Travel the country talking and commentating football all fall and you don't even have to know very much about it obviously to be good at it. I'd never quit if I were him.

Other than the Shamrock Series games, he‘s not really traveling the country but I bet he has an easier time flying into South Bend than us peasants.

Garrett's contract with NBC is 6 mil per annum

That is an insane amount of money to talk about football on TV 20 or 25 days a year. If you had that job, why would you ever want the endless headaches of actually running a college football program?

If you think that is an insane amount of money, you should see what they are paying Romo.

This is why Cowher never got back into coaching. Why would you go back to the grind that comes with being an NFL coach when you can work 1/4th of the time and make around the same?

It was rumored at the time, circa 2006, that the only team HC position Cowher would accept was the Giants. Coughlin was on a mega hot seat back then. The rest is history.
