I think we would have a better chance against Ole Miss than South Carolina right now.
Need to win. Losing to a mid tier SEC team while finishing 8-5 would be pretty stinky. Like one of my monster farts stinky.

Ole Miss is pretty good. I'd rather play someone else since we'll be so short handed.

No they're not. No defense whatsoever and a dumbass for a coach.

They started 7-0 when their toughest competition was Kentucky and Auburn. Fattened up on Troy, Centr Ar, GaTech, Tulsa, and Vandy.

They were 1-4 in the final 5, only beating aTm while losing to lsu, Bama, Arkansas and lost the Egg Bowl. They suck.

Saban making his case at halftime. Brady Quinn should tell him to suck it and go away.

Agree with all this. It’s a wounded duck opponent with no prestige from beating them.

Ah no. I want no part of Lane Kiffin wanting revenge in a bowl game that has zero real upside for ND winning

Beating a Lane Kiffin coached SEC team has all the upside I need.

How about beating an SEC team, even a middle of the pack SEC team.

We've constantly been told that, when we all those ten win seasons, with CFP appearances, that we would be an average SEC team. Playing SEC opponents more and winning does much more than playing a PAC12 team in the Holiday Bowl.

And what does Lane Kiffin want revenge on? 2012?

I see everybody’s side on this. But we still need to place someone with a pulse. We want some of the young guys to get some more playing time and experience and it not really kill us if we lose. You want those young guys to play against some talent so that way they can get better.

Cuts both ways. Iron sharpens iron, but playing against talent that swallows everything you are trying to do leads to confidence issues and no real opportunities to see the wheels fully in motion.

I would think equal talent would be a good learning experience, and superior talent a dejecting one.

In wrestling the common (failed) strategy was to pair experienced guys with new guys, thinking this would make the new guys “tougher” and “better”.

Turns out, laying on your back all evening unable to try to execute anything you need to learn isn’t a good way to make someone tougher and better.

For the record, none of our possible opponents scare me from a talent standpoint, and we would do just fine against any of them if highly motivated, which we will be.

Ole Miss in the Gator Bowl seems perfectly fine?

They're good not great, a brand-name SEC school who we haven't played in a long time. Wouldn't be surprised if they have a lot of opt-outs. Lane Kiffin's always a good time. We have a couple QBs to try out and will probably be without Mayer and Foskey but should have everyone else who matters (except Hart) available. Let's go have a good fun football game.

Would love Ole Miss in the Gator. It’s looking like it’ll be Gator, Cheez-It went to OU FSU.

It’s Oregon or South Carolina. Much rather South Carolina. Much much rather.

On the field for sure, though San Diego is probably more appealing to ND administration than Jacksonville, in terms of selling tickets and whatnot.
