I'd hesitate with Pruitt given the type and magnitude of his past transgressions. Probably would, but tight reins. Still, giving a staffer who's screwed up a second chance isn't the same look or level of risk as making him your HC. I think Freeze is a good hire for Auburn and he deserves a chance to redeem himself, but the hire does sort of smack of win at all cost, regardless of the other issues.

This certainly doesn’t make sense from a W/L perspective……maybe there is some other issue behind the scenes that we aren’t privy to.
From what I read he didn't have many friends in the athletic department.

I was shocked to see him let go too

How do you target your interim coach? Seems like it should be pretty easy to officially name him coach.
Not if he doesn't want the job. LOL

Key played at GT. I would assume he's going to take it. They went 4-4 with him as the interim. They can probably get him for six figures, too.

UNLV fired HC Marcus Arroyo. Finished 5-7 and was second in line among 5-7 teams for a bowl.

0-6 in 2020, 2-10 last season, 5-7 this season with the potential for a bowl and the extra practices. So they fire him.

Would a self aware administration understand 1) he's shown improvement and 2) we're UNLV and maybe we shouldn't be firing coaches every three years?
They called a pretty competitive game against us too. They knew what our weakness was and they were able to exploit it despite having less athletes. Obviously they didn't win, but they kept it interesting when they probably shouldn't have.

What are schools like WVU, IU doing? Every day that goes by seems wasted for some of these situations

Texans fans seem to think Gary Paterson to UNLV is happening

There’s no real rumblings about Allen. He’s well liked by the administration. Even with a losing record, that will by you more time than it would at most schools. Especially when you’re a hoop’s school.

Nebraska fans think it's Scott Frost. Go figure.

The UNLV A.D. is a KSU grad (1992). Patterson (1981) is also a KSU grad. Perhaps a connection there despite them not being on campus at the same time.

Allen isn’t going anywhere. He’s cheap, loved by a lot of movers and shakers there, and the thought is he has the personality to turn it around eventually. Will take a couple more bad years to punt him.

Tom Allen’s buyout is like 20 million dollars until December of 2024, and then it falls to somewhere around 8mil.

IU fans are seriously hoping he gets the Liberty job.

I don't see Allen going to Liberty. He's basically a local guy having coached HS in Indy prior to IU. Plus, IU isn't a FB power, but it's still the B1G. If he's not at IU, it will because someone made the decision for him.

I think it depends on how he sees the rest of his career playing out. If he’s okay with being let go as soon as his buyout drops, then he can absolutely just stay at IU. But he’s absolutely finished in BTown.

Liberty is a better CFB job than IU right now, no question.

it's totally a trash institution though, they are gonna hire Art Briles or Nick Rolovich or some fuckface like that 100%

Why the hell would Tom Allen go to Liberty?
Because he’s going to get shitcanned at IU and based on a lot of smoke on Twitter, Liberty has interest?

If he wants his next job to be as a head coach and not as a coordinator somewhere, he needs to control his next move and not wait until he gets fired.

It’s not all that complicated.

He's going to walk away from the $20 million he's still owed in exchange for the Liberty job?

I feel like putting Nick Rolovich and Art Briles in the same sentence isn't quite right, unless Rolo did something beyond making the big fuss about not getting vaxed. That's a world of a difference between what he did and Art Briles allowed to happen to the women of Baylor
