There’s going to be a lot of buyers remorse when you’re paying seven figures to kids who never pan out. I keep saying there’s going to be team chemistry issues with the guys getting huge money before taking a snap.

I think the correct path is actually to poach a good QB from a lower tier school (e.g. Willis from Liberty, Josh Allen from Wyoming, etc) and pay them a bag for 1-2 years of quality play. Gambling seven figures on a position that has a 50%+ bust rate even among top prospects is unsustainable.

Which is what G5 coaches have railed against the entire time—that their schools and programs become a de facto “minor league” for the P5.

My biggest fear with trying to poach a transfer is that if the kid is smart he's going to go somewhere where he know he can start. Is that something the staff can guarantee with Buchner "healthy"

I hear what you're saying, but 90% of the kids in the portal don't think that way

Calzada, Dart, Max Johnson, Ewers, Jayden Daniels, Ashford, Jack Miller. Plenty of kids transfer into situations they know aren’t 110% guaranteed. Someone like Bo Nix or Caleb Williams won’t but there will be guys willing to say I’ll beat out Buchner if it comes to that

As the musical chairs continue to speed up there will be fewer and fewer guarantees I imagine.

Italian food is overrated, I’m with acamp on this.

Since we are still on food and Tis the season what’s everyone’s take on thanksgiving food? Southern corn casserole hits hard, turkey not so much
Look, there are few meals that I look forward to more than my Mom's Thanksgiving meal. It's not that Turkey is amazing, or that any of the sides on their own are incredible.

It's simply because it's once a year. The turkey, cheesy potatoes, green been casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, her homemade rolls and cranberry sauce. And the pumpkin pie, good Lord, the pumpkin pie.

On their own, none of these items is anything out of this world, but together as a nine course meal, the food coma is glorious. And of course you need a nice craft beer to fill in the cracks.

I've said it before I'll say it again: I cannot wait for those articles to start coming out 4-5 years down the line. It's going to be hilarious to see which 5 stars flame out and how much these schools and boosters paid them.

Imagine if we threw the bag at Dayne Crist....

Idk. I think if you’re reckless then like anything yes they’ll have a demise (A&M), but would you have been willing to lose $1 million in Crist but also spend $1 million on Manti? Some of these kid will end up being worth it in the end.

Was A&M "reckless" or simply ahead of the game? I think that type of bag dropping will become commonplace.

While we’re at it, could someone talk about Goetta. I had it in Cincy and have never seen it anywhere else.

Goetta is amazing. Delicious sausage-like mix of meat and oats, along with some spices and whatnot. Similar to scrapple, though I've never had scrapple. The same general idea, but with oats vs cornmeal as the filler ingredient.

Crispy fried square patty form is the way to cook it, but there's slim margin for error between "crispy" and "burnt" at that point, so you've gotta be experienced with goetta at the frying pan or griddle. My wife also does a good 'goetta and eggs' mixture where the goetta is mashed and cooked into the eggs, rather than patty form. It's a nice change-up.

Gliers is the name brand in the area... haven't found an off-brand or homemade version that compares. Gliers or bust, imo. Other greater Cincy IE folk might know other brands that hold up.

My favorite indulgence at the local burger joint is a burger with a goetta patty, cheese, and runny egg on top. Is it good for my heart? No! Does it make me feel good? Also no! But it tastes great.

I'm honestly not sure on that. But I'm sure these kids are signing some sort of contract that stipulates they have to stick around or the money needs to be returned? Otherwise that's just reckless spending by schools and boosters. Or it's more likely that the new school (Texas) is paying that difference.

I can't imagine OSU actually gave him a "Bag of cash" and let him keep it when he transferred. I could be completely wrong, but that's just nonsensical.

Just a reminder that Josh Allen was all projected upside prior to the NFL. His stats really weren't great at Wyoming, at least passing wise

I can second how delicious Goetta is. Friends go up to NKY every summer and typically bring back a cooler full and it's amazing.

Gliers is the only way to go. Another hidden Cincinnati gem is Grippos. Best BBQ chip you’ll ever have

My mom doesn’t cook,… lol I grew up on boxed everything.

My wife and I roll with our ethnic mixed friends and family for the holidays. Enchiladas with turkey and adobo and pancit and German potato salad,… we make a United Nations out of it most years
