Here's where I disagree with that article.
1. He got to throw to all available receivers, Including one of the best TE's ND has ever had.
2. Decision making was bad to terrible.
3. Physical limitations in every measurable QB category.
4. He knew he couldn't be hit.
5. Several times the pass rush eased up, just to take it easy and let the offense get in some work. Still looked really bad.
6. It's been widely reported that Pyne has been turning the ball over frequently in practice.
7. Has my 3rd favorite TD celebration in history against Wisconsin behind
Arnaz Battle at FSU 2002 and Golden Tate vs MSU.
8. Really like the kid but he doesn't get us closer to the CFP, let alone wins vs legitimate Top 10 opponents.
9. Probably a real good kid to have in the QB room

For sure, but for ND to take the next step, the only snaps a guy like Pyne should be taking are while in victory formation on senior day.

Lets not forget that Kizer looked like shit in the 2015 Spring Game and nearly quit football afterwards, and then went on to win a ton of games once Zaire went down.
Pyne will be called on at some point this season, and he'll be ready again.

So are you more concerned by the interceptions or the midriff? Are you assessing a poor showing or lack of abs? You might have a strong point here about Angeli being a potential backup this season, but I can’t find it between the fat folds. You might need to do more crunches to slough off the weird fixation trying to cancel Notre Dame players through the transfer portal. Pyne had a terrible practice which is open for criticism, but your belly slaps about a DII transfer are unnecessary.

Logic will win out in the end and the right people will play, but no need to slam a player who has been team-first but just might not have it to be the guy.

This deserves way more likes.

It's not just about throwing the ball far, it's about velocity. Zip. Throws to the wide side of the field. Etc. And Buchner has Pyne beaten on that and it's not close. But the good thing is that you don't need a QB who's got a cannon arm to run an effective offense. Just someone who's on time and accurate. If Rees is smart, he'll build the offense around Pyne's strengths and get him out of the pocket. But I said the same thing about Rees with Buchner so....we'll see.

Maybe this belongs in the Rees thread, my worry is Tommy gets in Drew's head and has him over analyzing each play. Rees was the master of multiple audibles at the line. It worked for him. Book and Tyler both got the analysis' paralysis. Come on Dog let the guys play ball

I could really care less with how a guy throws the ball in shorts with no pass rush in his face. Show me a guy that throws a good ball in pads under the lights any day over this. Better yet, show me a guy that throws a good ball after being steamrolled by the pass rush on the previous play.

I think the problem with a lot of today's evaluation misses is everything is done now in these settings, like camps or 7 x 7 with no pads on and no threat of being hit.

Players always seem to revert to old bad habits in the heat of the moment too.
