Well, to be fair, there was plenty not to like while he was here, I think the success he had simply overshadowed it for a lot of fans.
Well how in the hell would I know? Im not about to hang out there and run the chance of getting dry humped by the man.you think he took these picutres on different days? Why would he change his shirt?
Wow! That's insane.No surprise here...
Lou Holtz says Brian Kelly ignored at least eight personal letters
Quick -- when was the last time you sat down, penned a letter, put it in a stamped envelope and dropped it in the mailbox? It has to have been at least 10 years since I wrote a letter, and I'm guessing it'd be closer to 20. However, former Notre Dame head coach…fightingirishwire.usatoday.com
"I wrote Brian Kelly maybe 8 positive letters during his time at Notre Dame, and I go to the mailbox everyday hoping I'm going to find an answer. He never responded to one of them" - Lou Holtz
I wrote Coach about my Mom's fandom for Notre Dame when she turned 90 and was getting weak. Told him how she and Dad got married at the Log Chapel. He responded with a wonderful letter and a signed Notre Dame football poster. Extremely joyful and kind. Lou Holtz did the same thing, by the way.

I always had a feeling Kelly was dismissive of Holtz's history and knowledge. Aside from the occasional pep rally I didn't see Lou interacting with Brian's teams much. I'm finding it harder and harder to like the guy anymore. Egomaniac feels like a fitting word.No surprise here...

Lou's politics are spot on, just like his coaching.View attachment 3051362
"When we got here, we were really riding on the backs of coach (Ara) Parseghian and coach (Lou) Holtz and what they had established,” Brian Kelly said Monday at the Kelly Cares Golf Invitational fundraiser at Lost Dunes Golf Club.
We wouldn’t be here without the great assistance from coach Parseghian and coach Holtz.”
Life is complex. Lou HATED Kelly for leaving for LSU. And Lou has gotten more and more emotionally outspoken as he has aged. ... including politically on topics which he frankly is not particularly well versed in. Also, as a head coach at Notre Dame, I'm sure that Coach Kelly had to try to be VERY subtle about making it clear that this was his team and his system. I believe that I read somewhere that Ara took Kelly off the hook immediately with a comment that he was not going to be talking about things that were the new coach's business. Knowing Lou's personality, one wonders if he could resist that sort of thing.
I don't think Lou hates Kelly for leaving. I think Lou firmly disagrees with the reasons Kelly has stated for departing. Lou loves ND dearly and like any loved one, he steps in if he thinks someone is disrespecting. I have no doubt in my mind that Lou and BK never saw eye to eye on what makes ND unique. That doesn't make BK a bad person either. But the two have vastly differing approaches to both ND and people. It's noticeable and it can't be ignored.View attachment 3051362

I find it hard to believe Brian Kelly does not respect and admire Lou Holtz
There's rarely a right and a wrong when it comes to two party politics. Lots of celebrities throw their hat into the political arena, whether they're versed or not. Certainly the team was Kelly's, but previous coaches have often gone back to those that have been successful in the past. They've brought back guys like Lou and Ara for inspiration and motivation. Weis brought them back a number of times and was tight with Lou. Davie and BK...not so much, very little, although Lou was at SC for much of Davie's tenure (But I highly doubt he would have been invited to Davie's teams even if he was retired).View attachment 3051362

Ask Orban if Ron Powlus running the option was stupid and he'll tell you it was.Lou's politics are spot on, just like his coaching.
In the end, it was just a job for him. It wasn't just a job for Lou. I don't think it's just a job for Marcus Freeman. That's the difference.I find it hard to believe Brian Kelly does not respect and admire Lou Holtz

He’s not lying. I wrote him a letter when I was in elementary school and I still have his response framed. He gave a personal response that detailed to a lot of the things that I wrote. Cool dude.
But he’s going to find out he’s not going to be playing Toledo. He’s not going to be playing Marshall. This conference is a little bit different.”
That's really nice. The same assistant who took the time to write you such a nice letter probably cannot be assigned to respond to more high-level (sorry, don't know your level) correspondence. That has to be from coach to coach.I wrote Coach about my Mom's fandom for Notre Dame when she turned 90 and was getting weak. Told him how she and Dad got married at the Log Chapel. This has nothing to do with the type of politics you are referring to. Please don’t make it about that. They have very polar opposite political views from what I have heard
