Many people tried to help him, he wasn't very kind to all of them. He made poor choices and he paid for them during his career. If you have something to share, feel free. He was a great player, but he's no victim if that's what you're getting at. He got second chances and squandered them, and he wasn't always kind to those that cared about him.

Sounds like someone who suffers from addiction.

Hopefully, we can get to the point where this is looked at by the vast majority of society as the mental health disease that it is, instead of a character flaw(s).
