1st practice, nothing against our Defense but, I think the Gap between 1st & 2nd team especially in the DB/DL is decent & with Buchner being told to not utilise one of his best assets (feet) imagine working against our 1st team Defense.

I think it’s good, he’s showing that his going through his reads & instead of taking a sack his getting rid of the ball & playing smarter

25 TDs, 10 INTs, 9 rushing TDs, 62% completion percentage.....would we all take that? (I know I would)
For a first year starter on an offense that is likely going to have a RTDB mentality? Absolutely. You pretty much just described Deshone Kizer's 2015 season and he was plenty good for us to go much further than we did if we had a competent DC.

At least 30 TDs, 7 ints, 12 rushing TDs, 65% completion percentage.

Should be do easy enough, it’s only 2.5 TDs per game, would expect some big TD games against Marshall, UNLV, Stanford, Syracuse & Navy
Not a chance he throws for 65%. He's just not that guy.

I could see it. He’s going to throw a lot of easy passes like bubbles, screens, flares etc and has Mayer. His % intermediate to long is much different convo.

For sure.

He's at least a 68% guy, probably closer to 70% because of how efficient and deadly Tommy's offense will be.
70% ?! Would love to be wrong, just don't see it happening.

This is a valid point, which is why I have him at low-60% and not under 60.

I was just messing around.

Our best hope is that he presents a similar running threat to Wimbush, but with a better completion %

If Wimbush could've just completed 60% of his passes, rather than hovering around 50%, ND might have gotten weird and won a couple of extra games in '17.

I would really hope for a Quarterback who:
1. Almost never turned the ball over;
2. Exuded a confidence that the guys could believe in;
3. Got the ball safely/firmly/timely into the bellies of our runners;
4. Could see the whole field and process it at least tolerably;
5. Almost always took the first open projection;
(6. Wasn't playing against Ohio State in his first take charge game)

If I could see the first five of those, I'd relax and let scheme and athleticism slowly smooth over the rest.
... and give him a pass (even a mulligan) on the first game.

All I saw was our defense getting wrecked in a situation they’ll almost certainly be in during week one,….. and I’m like the ultimate glass half full guy,……………………

if that is the tyree "dime" - thats not a great throw. left it over the middle for a safety to come into play.

Nah, he was throwing away from the outside CB that was coming over to help with outside leverage. The safety was pulled underneath by Mayer on a shallow crosser.

Perfect throw to drop it onto the hash, leading Tyree slightly inside down the seam.

10/10 would score touchdown.

I mean, yeah.
Tyree wasn't running the sideline anyway.
Regardless, my comment was about Tyree's move, Tyler's placement, etc.

Not really. I’d be more worried if the backs and tight ends couldn’t win in that situation. That drill heavily favors the offense.

I assume he meant 6.5/10 which is impossible to achieve…
realistically do we have the chance to be any good if our starting qb is only throwing 10 passes in a game against any good team we play this year. It is more likely we would be attempting closer to 20 passes a game sometimes more sometimes less

Hard to do that when you’re throwing at tight ends.

Naw man. Tyler dimes the bomb. It’s his throws over the middle in tight windows that has me apprehensive

To your point however, need a receiver deep to get a step. That’s not our gifted TEs

I imagine we're going to see more TD passes and more INTs than we're used to this year.

The last two full seasons have been 25 & 34 TD's. If he tops Book's 34 pasing TD's and 550 yds rushing in '19... ND's got a great shot at winning 11 with a strong chance at the playoffs... move that to a lock for the playoffs if one of the 11 is at OSU.

Yes, agreed, unless OSU turns out a 4 loss team.
