He's made $10.4M since entering the league. Hopefully he's managed his money well and can stick with a team for another year or two.

IDK, he was a great player for ND, but I can't help but think how fucking dumb the guy had to have been.

The Bears left him in on 3rd down a lot, and NO really targeted him in their short passing game. Te'o did blow up some inside runs but he missed his share of tackles.

I don't think played himself into a roster spot for next year. He's not a 3 down LB any more.

He never was at the NFL level. Those Banger LB’s are a thing of the past.

He wasn’t a 3 down linebacker in the NFL really from the beginning. He’s worth a spot as a backup. Watching the backups on some of these teams has me convinced

I figured he’d have a solid 10 year career. He’s getting close.

Naya is from my hometown, which is wild and if I'm not mistaken went to the only private catholic school in our area. A few former players of mine made sure to tell me, given my ties to the university. I'll definitely be watching.

Tell us more about how you feel about trans folks...
Politics aside, Manti is one of ours, and unless this documentary breaks some completely narrative-altering facts, Tuiasosopo is a f*cking creep who willfully destroyed the reputation of the one of the best LBs in NDFB history. I don't care how trendy his mental illness currently might be, anyone here inclined to side with him over Manti ought to go root for another team.

Sad that this catfish story is how Manti will be remembered. I remember Weis and the staff celebrating when Manti committed. Happy he chose the Irish over USC.

That is not what I'll remember him for as an ND fan. It's a part of his story but not the first thing that comes to mind. He was still the most impactful defensive player at ND in maybe my lifetime. That should hold a lot more weight than him getting conned at the end of his last year.

I don’t side with him/her/tbd? but I think we also have to recognize that if they were trans, they were working through some shit and it probably wasn’t as malicious as it was originally believed to be. It wasn’t “Guy pretends to be girl for shits and giggles.”

Maybe not malicious to injure someone but still wrong to mislead someone if you understand the concept of right and wrong. It’s essentially lying to get what you want. I could con you out of money by lying but it’s not malicious because I’m not trying to hurt you……I just want your money.

I'd bet he was sexually abused as child, grew up in a deeply conservative Polynesian family without any outlet to discuss his trauma, and that a lot of his issues are the result of adults failing him to protect him. But at all relevant times during this saga, he was an adult with his own moral agency, and while his past may mitigate some of his culpability, he remains culpable nonetheless.

Te'o has been dragged through the mud over this for years, when he was the victim, and none of the mouth-breathers on /r/cfb have a thing to say about the creep who stalked him. It's all "lol imaginary gf."

I don't think Piombino is taking sides against Manti here, just frowning on the use of tranny, which is generally considered a slur.

Come on... Te'o deserves all the crap he gets.

Explain this!! Guy is one of the best to ever put on an ND uniform, his grandma died, his girlfriend dies, he’s a Heisman finalist, plays/leads the Defense to a national title game, his dead girlfriend turns out to be fake… and you’re telling me Dante Moore still has more posts?

I understand the people who don’t think Manti should have done this (opens him up to be destroyed on the web again), and question his reasoning (money?)….. but none of us have come close to dealing what what he went through, so maybe this is some kind of closure for him? Idk, but either way, the guy is a Notre Dame LEGEND and a seemingly great man, so I’ll have his back regardless

I think it’s going to be interesting to see all the details of this story that we don’t really know. To me it’s a story of a naive dude who got caught in a con and didn’t know how to get out without making a mess of himself. Looking forward to it.
