It's basically Pokémon cards for guys in their 30s.

(Selling my IPC NFT for $69)
First of all, how dare you?

Second of all Pokémon cards are a physical tangible item with a limited supply not a series of 1s and 0s. They also have a traceable value they aren’t just created by a tik tok “influencer” out of thin air.

You are right. It's like homemade pokemon cards that you can purchase but they never send you the physical card. Instead, you get a cool high-res jpeg.

Certain Pokemon cards also double as Talismans of Power.

Logan Paul bought a 1st edition Shadowless Charizard for $369,000.00, had it encrusted with diamonds, and then wore it around his neck as he entered to ring to fight Floyd Mayweather.
Not to be that guy, but the picture you posted is actually of his PSA 10 Illustrator card that he bought for 5.275 million.

Not the Mayweather fight. It was Wrestlemania! Oddly enough...

I actually watched it for the first time in about a decade because WWE PPVs are now free on Peacock streaming.
I was shocked that Paul wasn't completely awful. For a celebrity match it was probably one of the better ones they've done. Somehow it still wasn't as entertaining as the Johnny Knoxville vs. Sami Zayn match though. There wasn't really any wrestling in that one, just a lot of goofy hijinx and spots that made for a ridiculous pallet cleanser.

It was actually a surprisingly entertaining show considering the Royal Rumble two months prior was a real stinker. Stone Cold coming out of retirement to face Kevin Owens was well done. Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins stole the show. The crowd absolutely loved the Pat McAfee match(es) too. He even managed to take a Stone Cold Stunner at the end, and then was drinking beer as he laid in a heap beside the ring.

Pat McAfee is gold.

Another example of 4 for 40

Once upon a time, DeShone Kizer saw firsthand the value some brands captured in resale versus the initial sale. He became fascinated, dare we say, obsessed, with giving creators access to their secondary markets.

So, he & his co-founders created One of None.

One of None is a platform that enables creators to launch physical, digital, and hybrid pieces, bridging the gap between the Web2 & Web3 worlds. It allows Web3 collectors to attach more conventional value to their most treasured NFT pieces and traditional collectors to connect lasting value to their investments.

They are community-first, connecting collectors, artists, and fans who are all passionate about the intersection of physical experiences and emerging technology.

One of None is built for the collector who appreciates uniqueness as much as the creator who values the one-of-a-kind experiences that shape their art.
The words are English but this reads like an Indiana Jones Holy Grail riddle.

Didn't one of the cards he bought turn out to be fake or something?

That was a 1st edition booster box IIRC. 36 1st edition packs.

As much as I think Logan Paul is a total douch, can't hate on him for this flex. If I ever won the lottery this is the exact thing I'd be spending my money on lol.

Thanks for posting that. It was a good interview.. Kizer goes into all kinds of interesting ND stuff. Surprised to hear that him and Malik were tight even through the QB competition. Not sure if it's revisionist history or not, but he seems sincere.

The full interview is worth a listen, although, at 2+ hrs long, it might be better to target the most interesting bits and skip over anything that doesn't seem interesting (the YouTube video labels each topic so you can FF to whatever topic you want to hear). In it, Kizer mentions:

  • He didn't think he was a good QB after freshman year and thought he was destined to be a clipboard holder
  • Says his personal relationship with BK was non-existent the whole time he was at ND, remained that way after he left, and implies that was true for most players under BK at that time. Said he heard from players within the program that BK changed after 2016.
  • Talks about how weird it was to continue to compete for the QB job with MZ to start the season against UT despite the success he had the year prior and how he had been practicing through spring and fall - and still was never named the starting QB even after the first game. He just became the defacto starter without BK ever making it clear it was his job.
  • Says he decided to leave early because there was no indication that BK wouldn't put him through the same weird QB competition against Wimbush in 2017.
  • Mentions he mostly had a great relationship with Malik but there was a little strain after he became the starter in 2016, but blames the situation and not Malik.
  • Talks about his time in Cleveland and what he wishes he had done differently
Here's the full interview:
