I view Carr as more of a 4.5 star kid. Sayin more as a legit 5. Could be way off though. Both look to be pretty elite. It's hard to gauge kids as sophomores. My bet is Rees can see who has more upside between the two by Sunday. But I'd rather have 5 star Sayin commit early than get into WW3 with UofM for the next 15 months over 1 '24 QB, particularly if we don't get one in '23.

Interesting nugget, Sayin looked awesome at the QB retreat along with another '24 kid, but there was 1 dude that stood out above everyone. His name was Chris Vizzina.

Idk if it's really that crazy that a legacy skunkbear isn't that sold on a football staff that dipped their toes in the NFL waters, assumed they got the job and basically packed their bags, only to come crawling back after he got passed up for the position.

That's why scUM is struggling so hard on the trail after their most successful season in over a decade.

Harbaugh is a strange cat; I know several people who have met him and that's not just a tv persona, he's as strange as you likely imagine. I can see why HS players, even legacy ones, aren't ready to hitch a ride on that wagon.
Give a year, those memories will fade. Especially if they win next season (and their schedule is pretty soft). Harbaugh will still be a weirdo though, that's true.

IDK. I just think there'll be immense pressure on Carr to go to Michigan and no matter how soon he might commit it'll be a war to keep him all the way to Signing Day. Not saying we shouldn't pursue him. Of course we should. And maybe the kid wants to go away to college. I just wouldn't put all my eggs in that basket.

That's fair, legacy matters but we'll see, sometimes a kid wants to pave their own path, you know? One can hope.

My uncle is a very successful HS football coach here in MI. At one of his previous schools, they were hosting the one of the major football camps for recruits around the country and of course Harbaugh was in attendance, as was BK, Mark Dantonio, Urban Meyer etc.

He said he was awestruck by how strange Jim was, lol. He has some really funny stories about it. He didn't mind Bk, was a big fan of Dantonio.

We were in on 2-3. We recruited Arnold and Vizzina for months before pushing for one.

We may not even lead for Moore if he wasn’t from the Midwest, so while certainly I agree ND should be going coast to coast to find the right kid, you have to pursue the built in advantages when you can get them
True. My point is you keep fishing with multiple rods until you reel one in.

I wonder what the absolute record UM could have where they would retain Harbaugh. You are right, though, their schedule is pretty soft:

9/3 - Colorado State
9/10 - Hawai'i
9/17 - UConn
9/24 - Maryland
10/1 - @ Iowa
10/8 - @ IU
10/15 - PSU
10/29 - MSU
11/5 - @ Rutgers
11/12 - Nebraska
11/19 - Illinois
11/26 - OSU

I mean, they probably lose to OSU and one or two of Iowa, PSU, and MSU. Would 8/4 get him the can?

Four with Ohio State. But they get Penn State and Sparty at home. Non-conference schedule is a joke. They could well be 10-1 or even undefeated going into Columbus. Hype train would be ridiculous. Even if they're not very good.

They will have 3-4 losses heading into Columbus. They lost a lot of talent to the draft and they don't have replacements ready. Everything clicked for them last year, this year will be a train wreck.

CJ reclassifying would confound things greatly

Carr reclassifies to 23 and Underwood does the same for 24. We then give a 2 finger salute to Michigan

This is pure speculation, but could it be that Carr is fairly solid and Moore is likely. Thus if Moore says "yes" Carr stays 2024, but if Moore goes elsewhere, Carr is actually the backup to Moore and would reclassify to 2023? I am just trying to connect some fuzzy dots, but this would explain why Freeman and Rees seem less in panic mode about Moore's continuing visit plan.

I think Loy didn’t think it’d be worth it in a sense to put one in even if ND led because Sayin was clearly going to decide first. The prediction is likely due to a chance Carr could actually decide soon (as in by the fall when Sayin plans to).

I'll take Lloyd as an analyst too.
I'd have his role as official Michigan troll. Deck him out in nd gear and watch UM squirm
