Not a gotcha or leading question - do you have reading on the new vaccine that's being developed? Think it would really interesting to read.
I don't really, nothing technical, I've just seen the whispers on social media and some news outlets saying it's coming. Here's one from CNBC from a few weeks ago:
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/10/cov...s-omicron-vaccine-will-be-ready-in-march.html
Real-world data from the United Kingdom has shown that Pfizer’s and Moderna’s vaccines are only about 10% effective at preventing symptomatic infection from omicron 20 weeks after the second dose, according to study from the U.K. Health Security Agency. However, the original two doses still provide good protection against severe illness, the study found.
So Pfizer's Bourna is saying that the current shots are still helping prevent serious infections for those that are high risk, but they're developing the updated shot to try and catch some of these variants that have come out since the initial release. Fauci seems to think we don't need it.
