I hadn't watched that LSU players meeting until just now. Wow, well BK is playing for keeps. I hope Swarbrick is. He just very publicly insulted, ND, Swarbrick, the admin, and the players with that BS. I hope they hire Freeman and give him everything Kelly ever wanted starting now.

Not mad about what the LSU coach said. He’s not wrong in any of it, including the line about the players. Overall, LSU has better rated players than ND. They have more of a commitment to football which can be seen in how they spend money on facilities/football coaches.

More than anything the short clip gave insight into why he chose to leave. He felt he was being held back by Notre Dame. Im okay with him leaving if that’s the case because I want a guy that’s bought in, and believes he can win. I’ve said it’s easier to win at LSU. This isn’t because they have an easier path necessarily, but because football is about the Jimmies and Joes. If you got them, you have a shot.

Well, saying he's looking for his next challenge when he hasn't even accomplished the one in front of him (and the one those young men signed up for with him) is such a bitch move.

His whole pitch to recruits has been, ND is the hard path but the hard path is rewarding and here is why. These guys bought in and signed up for that. In the midst of a trying season that didn't start as planned they pushed through the noise and struggles to put themselves in a position to have some real post season success. And here's Kelly telling them that he's out of here, like this.

We encourage and celebrate players who sit out bowl games or enter the draft before graduating b/c they are going to get paid and have a great opportunity. This is somewhat similar. He was paid generational money and he does have an opportunity to win a title. Maybe it's better than his opportunity here, maybe it's not. I really dont know. I have issues with him leaving early, and how it was done, so i see your point. I just don't think he said anything that was incredibly insulting or objectionable with respect to ND.

While mathematically still in it, by putting OkSt ahead of ND, they are saying unless Alabama gets the doors blown off and one of Cincy or OkSt loses ND has no shot.

Correct, I'm not salty about losing Kelly in general. Most felt like his career at ND and maybe in general had run it's course and were grateful for his service. A lot of people assumed that Freeman wsa HCIW since he took the job.

It's how he did it and the state that he left the program in because of it. By a lot of accounts there were plans in place that BK set fire too. I don't believe this is the only way to do things even though it's become the popular choice amongst some douche coaches and their agents.

TBF, a lot of us already predicted this would happen last week before this BK stuff. OKST beating OU is a wayyyyy better win than anything ND has this year. BK aside, they were going to leap us, and without 2/4 of UGA, Iowa, Baylor and Houston winning, we are not going to the CFP.

I pray that the committee won't punish the ND players at that point and put, say, Baylor in ahead of us with two losses despite their conference championship, but it's all on the table for the committee and will be extremely subjective if chaos ensues this weekend.

No way. BK's first priority at all times is his own ego.

And generally, because he's a good football mind and a great coach, it has served him well. Everything is a challenge, and his ego doesn't often let him lose.

Now that he knows he's the winningest coach at the most storied college football program in the country, his place in history is solidified. He's free to go appease his ego with the next challenge (beating Alabama).

That's a red herring. Even if the football program had the green light to pass out scholarships to every dummy with a low 40 time, those kids would fail out of school by their second semester. The issue isn't admissions standards, it's academic standards. The kids who can't get in are kept out because they wouldn't be able to maintain eligibility even if they were admitted.

The thing is, it's far more difficult for the players at Notre Dame once they get there, than the players at freaking Stanford.

Yes and no. Part of the problem in that timeframe was hired poor coaches. Davie and Ty sucked. Charlie had issues but was better. Their records reflected their abilities. Kelly has gone undefeated 3 times but couldn't get us over the top. Some of it has been bad luck. Every time we get to a NY6 game we end up playing an extremely talented team, in which we're the underdog. If we beat Pitt in the Peach bowl this year, does it mean we're in a better place than losing to Georgia in the playoff? The "not winning anything" is somewhat misleading.

He’s no doubt improved the athletic departments he’s been in, but to my knowledge at Washington and A&M and short time at LSU none of these big hires in football and basketball he has had won the whole thing, and debatably none lived up to the promised expectations, yet. He padded their check books though.

There are 130 FBS programs. The vast majority of programs don't win national championships in 28 years. I don't see "no national championships since 1988" as any great failure.
