Man I really wish there was a way to keep Rees while hiring Freeman.
Take all this FWIW but one LSU 247 mod thinks they get Freeman. Shea Dixon said that there are assistant coaches on the flight with BK. And, he'll be at the airport when they arrive so we'll know in short order who those are. I highly doubt Freeman would be one of the initial guys gone.
Based on Sampson and Fortuna's discussions, BK has been asking for certain changes and investments for years and ND hasn't done them. I'm not sure he was interested in promises.
I agree. Golic Jr said there's a possibility Rees could take an open HC position too at a smaller school, a lot of coaching positions will be opening up in the next month.
If the players truly love both Freeman and Rees it would be good to keep the momentum of this strong freshmen offensive group and Freeman's future defensive recruits if we could retain both. Really depends on Rees' loyalty and how much LSU offers...is he more loyal to BK or the school? Hard to say.
Between this, the Angels just laughable pitching free agency ineptitude, Baker looking more like a bust... either I freaking legit hang myself or I just laugh at it and wait for NCAA 23 to come out so i can finally show all these swine what's up Series X.................
It's all i have left at this point, and the Pens I guess.
The Pens ship is sailing too![]()
2018: UCLA, Virginia Tech
2019: UCLA, Boston College
2020: Lost by 3 to Georgia
2021: ND
The guy is a good coach and has that Cinci program humming after Tuberville derailed it. And remember he was a high level assistant at OSU for a decade. Gotta think he'll at least be a solid recruiter. If it's not Freeman he is an absolute no brainer second choice.
This is a tale as old as time. Holtz pushed back. Charlie pushed back. Now Kelly pushed back. They did nothing.
ND is a football school that doesn't want to be a football school.
Fickell to ND and we retain Freeman as Co-HC/DC then Tommy goes to UC. Ohio state opens up in 4-6 years and Fickell Leaves and Tommy comes home.

Rees always struck me as a ride-or-die, bleeds-blue-and-gold type.
I'd be shocked if Freeman is on the plane. He wants the HC job and has a social media push for him to get it...
Compared to the other options the Pens look like Salma Hayek in Desperado
I'd be shocked if Freeman is on the plane. He wants the HC job and has a social media push for him to get it. But, I posted that because there is a very real chance that within the next couple/few hours we learn that some combination of Quinn, Rees, Polian, Elston, etc could be.
I'd settle for Salma today. In fact, I might opt for this version.

He stepped in after Tressel got fired and went 6-6 as in interim. So many people forget this. Meyer kept him on and he was often a punching bag for Meyer. So much so that the story goes Mike Vrabel had an altercation with Meyer, though not to the degree that everyone tells the tale.
I think Fickell would be an excellent hire for ND. Would he want the job knowing the obstacles here is the question.
At this point, I think ND needs to do what they can to make Freeman the new head coach, though. Timing isn't there for Fickell.

Since no interim was named, I'm guessing Jack is trying to finalize a deal with Freeman and one with Tommy to keep him on board as OC.
