So outside of the Clemson game last year, this was probably the biggest win since...what 2018 scUM or 2017 USC?

I just rewatched Kiser’s pick six. Man Mertz. ND is basically just soft zone across the board and instead of the dump off to the left of him at the LOS a few feet away, he chooses the guy at the LOS completely across the field. Even if Kiser doesn’t jump it he’s tackling the guy for zero gain.

That ball was in the air for 3 days

Not sure how you define biggest but it seemed similar to UNC last year. UNC was #19 when we played them and they ultimately went to the Orange bowl. This Wisconsin team doesn’t seem very good, will be interesting where they end up. I guess it being at Soldier field made it feel like a big time win.

I posted this in Drew Pyne's thread, but check out his pre-game body language and how he leads the huddle after Coan gets injured.

I loved that little strut Pyne made. Thanks for posting.

Rees's play calling is Coan's quarterbacking. It's OK at times but frustrating too often, and you start to wonder if there's a better option out there.

You don't get to learn on the job while the OC at ND making close to 7 figures.

Especially right now when ND seems like a good offense away from winning everything.

I disagree with Tommy being an issue. I think he's done a great job adapting to a nearly insurmountable problems re: the O Line.

Coan isnt the guy for this line, but he's good at not turning it over, which is BKs biggest #1 thing. (Which has led to a lot of success)

I think you saw what happens to an offense that has clear deficiencies and refuses to adapt in Wisconsin's performance on Saturday.

I think Tommy is doing a pretty damn good job all things considered.

If Wisconsin isn’t careful they are going to get trucked by scUM this Saturday. At least it’s at Camp Randall but Wiscy has as bad as a QB situation as ND does an OL situation.

Worse. At least we have potential.

I’ve watched the Tyree KR about 100 times, the Gus Johnson call is incredible. Probably the most exciting play I’ve ever been in the stands for, up there with a couple long Josh Adams TDs in ‘17. I love Kyren, but I’d love to see CT get a shot at PR

I agree he has done a pretty good job apart from the fact the offense has essentially sucked across the board for one reason or another or multiple reasons the whole time he has been OC.

Tyree.......TYREE!!

Yeah it was perfect. Can we get Gus and Klatt on every week? Gus brings the energy and I feel like Klatt is one of the only national guys that respects ND.

I read where the returns have always been set up to the short side. Shorter time to block and less likely to garner a penalty. Polian suggested they go wide side return and in the words of Paul Harvey, and now you know the rest of the story.

I'm not sure how you can't put some of the blame on Tommy, especially if one of the issues is the QB position. He's been here since 2017 either as QB coach or OC and our best option this year was a transfer (who I assume he wanted) who "isn't the guy for this line". If Quinn is going to be criticized for the performance and recruiting of the OL, then Tommy should as well regarding the QB position. Hopefully TB develops by next year because he's the only QB on the roster with any elite traits.

4th quarter vs us might have broken them though. How can anyone on that team have any confidence in Mertz?

Fair enough... neither team can throw it... but scUM trying to win by running on that front sounds problematic to me... my gut tells me wisky wins a trench war. Unless scUM surprises everyone and tosses it around.

I guess I can see Wisky working around Mertz for a win more than scUM pounding the ball (wish is quite literally all they have been able to do to this point) against that front and winning. Maybe they throw a curve and start throwing it effectively though... that's their only hope imo.

I'm not so sure....scUM has played a cupcake schedule so far.

At least Wisconsin has taken some punches from solid football teams, and they'll be ready to go. I'm sure they'll be fired up and desperate to avoid a 1-3 start. Wisconsin has lost to two physical football teams in Penn State and ND...scUM beat a football team that only put up 7 points against MONTANA and the B1G punching back in the Scarlet Knights. Western MI might be the best team they played in September.

Regardless of how bad Mertz has looked, this is a big step up in competition for this 2021 scUM team in terms of physicality, atmosphere, etc. They haven't even left Ann Arbor yet this szn....

Hope you’re right b/c I’d love to see scUM go down and Wisc end up being a decent team. I just don’t see how scUM doesn’t do what ND did and force Mertz to beat them…which he doesn’t appear equipped to do.

Yeah, that's a fair point. But I don't think we've really seen scUM's D get tested. ND certainly gave them the blueprint to win, but it's another thing to go out and execute. They haven't seen a defense as strong as UW's and they probably haven't played a rushing attack as strong, either.

But you know I'll be cheering hard for the Badger's alongside you and everyone else on this board haha. *uck Michigan
