Les Miles and Kansas have agreed to part ways.
Congratulations to LSU on being yet another shit house school that went out of their way to protect the wrong people.
I honestly thought Miles was supposed to be a good family man, so this was a bit surprising. The cover up itself isn't surprising though.
After the great Joe Paterno con, nothing really surprises me anymore with these guys.
Penn State should've received the SMU Death Penalty and did not. UNC, Miami, Baylor all came away clean. LSU sees this adn knows nothing will happen. This is going to continue on until someone gets their nuts stepped on. Hard.
The NCAA does nothing, so the beat goes on.
They didn't agree to part ways. They booted him like a rotten tomato. AD thought by dumping him asap, it would save him, but the AD got the boot as well. Apparently the AD was aware of the LSU scuttlebutt, but hired Miles anyway.
I don't think they're done with LSU. There's punishment coming. Probably won't be as severe as it should be, but expect something.
Rumor is that Jeff Monken of Army will take over at Kansas as HC.
It was reported that the top two candidates for the job were Monken and Leipold of Buffalo.
If it is Monken, I wonder how much of his decision to leave Army was based off the fact that those kids got busted for cheating and he was going to lose a chunk of his roster.
GT tried it with Paul Johnson, but his triple option was old and busted.
Monken's triple option is the new hotness. Gonna be fun to see how it holds up in the Big 12 over the next few years. It was only a matter of time before a Power-5 bottom-feeder decided to try making the switch to compete.
Kansas hiring Lance Leipold
Kansas did better than most teams in hiring choice even amongst circumstances? Huge W

DMVs, courts and state offices in Alabama are closed today to commemorate Jefferson Davis’ birthday. Then you add this.
Can't get much better if you are an Alabamian.

How long does FSU stick with Norvell? How long does Frost last at Nebraska? What will USC do, Fickell, despite all the talk of him loving the Midwest?
I would be surprised if Frost lasts more than this year. He has a pretty massive buy out, but the thought is the info about the NCAA Violations was leaked by internal folks to void his contract and avoid the buy out. We will see on that front. I think he needs another year or two. Mike Riley destroyed that program.
I really want to know what Nebraska saw in Mike Riley, that one still perplexes me. The guy went 93-80 at Oregon State over 14 seasons with only one season having 10 wins. He just came off a 4-8 season prior to Nebraska picking him up. I mean...I get that they all can't be winners...but they let go of Bo Pelini who in 7 seasons NEVER turned in less than 9 wins and three times had 10. Why do you let that guy go for someone who regularly goes about .500?
There's no explaining some coaching hires. In '08 Auburn fired Tommy Tuberville, who was 85-40, for Iowa St. coach Gene Chizik, who was 5-19. Granted, Tuberville had let AU spiral downward over the previous 4 seasons, but you replace him with a 5-19 guy??? There've been a few other hires from various schools over the years that leave you scratching your head and wondering what the powers that be were thinking.
Chizik also was at a perennial loser. Perhaps Auburn saw something in him...if someone snatches up Clark Lea in the next couple years it won't be because his record at Vandy is impressive.
But yeah...Auburn is.... Auburn. They got severe little bother syndrome. I cheer for them every year in the Iron Bowl. I like land-grants. And I acknowledge that it's gotta be tough being in Alabama's shadow... but they do behave very erratically to say the least.
