Brees officially retired. Officially announced as NBC’s color guy and ND talking head soon too?

Was just going to post something similar. I know he had a deal in place with NBC but did we ever find out exactly what his role would be?

I'm already cringing at the Purdue lovefest we'd get if he's on the broadcast for that game.

The New Orleans Saints quarterback has agreed to join NBC Sports as a football analyst when he is done playing, the New York Post reported Friday.

...

According to the New York Post, Brees will be groomed as a potential replacement for Cris Collinsworth on NBC's "Sunday Night Football." Brees is expected to start as a game analyst for Notre Dame football games and as a studio analyst for "Football Night in America."

That’s from an old ESPN article

So does this mean he replaces Dungy? Sad if true.

I bet he will be doing Chris Simms' job, doing pregame and halftime analysis.

I wonder if this means Simms gets a new gig, or if he and Brees both do analysis.

An article I read today said that Brees will be in the booth with Tirico, in Dungy's spot from the previous year.

From USA Today: https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...re-dame-football-night-in-america/4698702001/

Whoa, straight to the color commentary job. Maybe NBC thinks he's the next Tony Romo lol.

I loved Dungy

I did too. None of the subtle shade that Flutie liked to spew, but less of the technical jargon that Mayock liked. Just a totally neutral color analyst that provided about what you'd expect for whoever gets to call the game alongside Tirico.

Not that either are really significant but I do think Brees, at least until people hear him, bring a bit more juice than Dungey did. National audience I think would view Brees on the call in a similar vein to Romo whereas Dungey had that Saturday morning type voice. Recruits/players certainly know Dungey’s name but again a bit more prime time type feel with Brees

Has Brees ever done color work before? What if he sucked? Lol. A lot of money to be spending by NBC. Good news is, Tirico is a pro's pro and he'll groom Brees well, no doubt.

Terrible. I loved the perspective that Lou was always able to bring - he had a lot of knowledge of ND football's history and always tried to compare and contrast what was happening now with what had happened in the past. Sad to hear this.

Huge loss for ND media. I’ve been reading Lou’s articles for a very long time. There’s only been a brief period of time when I didn’t pay for a membership to his site (Bryan Driskell). Lou is an all timer for me. RIP in Lou. You will me missed.

Woah. Lou Somogyi just passed away of a heart attack. Rest In Peace.

Oh no! Gone way too soon. RIP and prayers for the Somogyi family. I started reading him when my dad subscribed to BGI back in the 80s when it was Prister & him. And then Sampson joined.

If it means anything, I have never been a paysite guy, and I knew about Lou. Seems to have great respect from his peers and great love from his friends. Seems like the world and the ND community lost a good one. RIP

I used to get so mad because Drickell would never let Lou talk. Cut him off all the time but Lou was always chill. RIP

Always drove me crazy the way he pronounced Notre Dame -- "Nor Dame" lol, but now I'm gonna miss it. RIP, Lou.

Agreed! Prister can sometimes pronounce it that way but Lou ALWAYS did. They are both alums and sounded like they remained close after Prister left BGI. There were a ton of heartfelt tweets on Twitter from CBK to national media to local media honoring Lou. He sounded like a high character guy who everyone respected as a human being.

That's rough. And always feel worse when it happens to the guys who live right, eat right, exercise, etc. RIP Lou

Can anyone with Rivals confirm the site or certain team sites at least have snap count data? I’ve seen mentions online about Rivals having OL snap counts. Was thinking of switching off 247 but use the site for research (gambling) purpose so would need to stay national rather than ISD

would be incredibly ironic if the owners of the Athletic sold out to the NYT
