I enjoy watching him get a chance at BC, even though I have a deeply seeded dislike for Backup College. I do not wish he was starting for ND over Book, just appreciate a guy who chose ND first getting a chance to go sling it and hopefully reach his potential. BK seems very anti-gunslinger, which makes a lot of sense when we should dominate 80%+ of our schedule. Lower variability of outcomes by reducing largest "problem" metric in football - turnovers. Unfortunately, that hamstrings our teams when we are against equal or better talent. Not Phil's fault - go get yours kid.

Irishman77... Is he still an elite top 5 QB after those lawn darts he just threw directly into the turf?

What an embarrassment of a night for Phil... You come in talking all offseason and all week about how the ND coaching staff wronged you and you really deserved a shot to start at QB, and then you come out here and get absolutely outplayed and outmatched by Ian Book while playing a complete Dud of a game. Backup College, Backup Quarterback

Book is just a better QB. Nothing to see here. Maybe in a couple of years, accuracy is an issue

It's like worst parts of Dayne Crist and Kizer had a younger brother with a shit personality.

Phil has been inaccurate all year. Receivers bail him out all the time. Kelly obviously made the right decision at QB again. Proud of Ian and the boys.

Hope he does well the rest of the year.
He has a good long ball.
They should probably have him run more.
He might be good with a better oline.

Haffley may have them playing hard but it's still BC and they'll never be on a better than 3 year schedule.

I was hoping good things for him initially, but he seems to overly slamming ND.
So I really just don't care now. He went from being an X-ND guy that went somewhere else to get PT, to just a mouthy whiner with a grudge.

I understand that, he really wanted to be the man at ND. He is upset. Understandable.

I don't mind him being upset at all. And I don't mind him using it to motivate himself. Him talking to the media this week like he did, and all the other reports, just made me lose some respect for him. You can be pissed, or even angry, but you can also keep it out of the media so you don't come off like a woman scorned.

And then to have a poor game, and the QB that you imply you're better than, has a clearly better game.... Just didn't age well for him. Hopefully it will be a learning experience for him. I don't wish him bad luck (except whenever he plays ND), I just won't cheer for him like I would have. Kid needs to mature is all (IMHO).

I have almost always wished well on the QBs that have moved on to other schools. Almost all of them have been incredibly respectful and left in a classy way. Golson's exit wasn't ideal...he played all Spring ball and was sharing snaps with Zaire, then was going to slip out in the middle of the night without telling the coaches...until the players found out and spilled the beans. Minor issue really, but still wished him well because he did a lot and otherwise left without trashing the university.

5* Philure? Not so much. Blamed the coaches, trashed the university, went to a rival, then whined to the NCAA so he could play this year. Can't really wish him the best given the circumstances. He's delusional if he thinks he was better than Book, even with our suspect pass defense today Phil struggled and his passes were ugly. I'm not going to wish evil on the kid, but he burned any goodwill bridges imo.
