Pence adds no value, IMO. Too much of a unknown and would be viewed as a doormat, regardless of his actual ability.

His value would be the strict conservatism views he has, but as a state, Indiana's economy is doing quite well right now compared to other states.

I really don't know if he'll get reelected as governor or not. Indiana is one of the few states prospering right now (unemployment is 4.3%, tax rate is low, solvency, etc.). I still attribute a lot of that to former Governor Daniel's policies and not Pence. I think Pence won election because of Daniels. He has two major black eyes that may come back to bite him. One is the LGBT law that had to be revised after considerable pressure and national publicity. The other was from education and his battle with the State Superintendent of Education. While not a national item, it was big in Indiana. I have nothing to base this on, but given his wife is a former elementary school teacher, I have to believe a lot of his views came from her.

I really don't know if he'll get picked, but if he hops on a plane sometime between today and tomorrow morning we'll know he's the guy.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump tied going into conventions - CBS/NYT poll - CBS News

Trump leads Clinton by 7 points: Rasmussen poll | TheHill

Donald Trump Gets 0% Support From Black Voters in Ohio, Pennsylvania: NBC/WSJ Polls - NBC News

These (along with Quinnipiac yesterday) account for FBI but not really the Bernie endorsement. Seems (barring one of them doing/saying something stupid) that it will be essentially even in the polls post conventions.

Also, Rasmussen has a big Republican bias so +7 is clearly not accurate.

This has been beat to death but the fact that Hillary is not blowing Trump away at this point just proves how awful she is.

I truly don't understand how we are in this position.

I know I sure as shit didn't sow this. Most people I personally know didn't either.

Not "we", individually.......... "we", collectively. On both sides, we have allowed politicians to brainwash us into believing that we lose whenever someone else wins. We've completely lost sight of the middle ground....... where no one gets everything they want, but everyone gets something that they can live with. Sports and politics have both become win it all, at any cost. If ND wins 10 games but misses the playoffs, we start dissecting which coach(es) needs to go, which position group needs a serious upgrade, and which individual players don't deserve to be on the field. In politics, if someone from the other party wins, then we are doomed to spend eternity in purgatory. We the people are getting a government of us and by us.......... and the fact that is not FOR us is no one's fault but our own.

I think the email lies are hurting more than she thought they would. At the end of the day, I don't most voters besides the far-right would have cared that she used her personal server as long as she were honest about how it was shortsighted. The fact that she lied about what she did over and over (and potentially committed perjury in the process) just gives into the "Crooked Hillary" label.

For as extremely flawed that Trump is, I do really enjoy following his campaign as someone who was a Media major. For all his bluster, there are times he is truly a step or two ahead of everyone, and branding Hillary as "crooked" might seem somewhat stupid, but it's working and it's something that other politicians wouldn't dare do. The fact he is essentially tied and Hillary is outspending him 57M to 4M is amazing to me.

All in all, she needs more than being the not-Trump candidate. Nearly all of her social media posts and speech content is centered around Trump. People clearly aren't as scared of him as her campaign thinks they are and his idea of a "rigged system" is just enhanced every time someone like Ginsburg (already apologized) speaks out against him or Lynch refuses to answer most questions about the FBI case. He's done an amazing job of pushing the narrative that everyone in Washington can't be trusted and that anyone who speaks out against him is only doing it for personal reasons and not to benefit everyday people.

If you hate Trump, you have no one but the GOP establishment to blame. If you like Trump you have no one but the GOP establishment to thank.

To me this was the miscalculation by the machine...With Comey you had frustration, but a sense that he cared to get his thoughts to the people of this country. Lynch made the justice department look crooked as a dog's hind leg AND incompetent all at once. The simplest questions she dodged...why. Then, when asked about the legal process Comey applied, she dodged again...Comey ALREADY laid it all out there...all she had to do was say I reviewed Mr. Comey's application of the law and I agree. She never said that emphatically. So she appears to be an idiot. Why would you do that?

Anyway, after Comey, Lynch appeared guarded and ill informed like she was never going to engage...add in the fortuitous meeting with Clinton on an Airplane...MAN, people are pissed. Whatever Comey did to put the fire out Lynch dumped a tanker truck of gas on it. The damage Mrs. Clinton is seeing is due to Ms. Lynch playing the role of the leader of a "two track" justice system...and she played it PERFECTLY.

If pants suit Lucifer Loses, I'm sending Lynch flowers.

Pence isn't a great pick, but he may be the safest. He should shore up most of the #NeverTrump conservatives and help fundraising, and Trump is relying on himself to continue to win over Independents.

The VP doesn't have to do much but avoid being an idiot (Palin) and most people who dislike Pence are those who would never vote Trump anyway. It's not a great pick, but seems like it could be an okay one.

Dang...was hoping for Christie, so they'd feed off each other and go WWF/Jerry Springer show on the Dems. Can't have it all I guess. Trump will have to be enough...and I guess the Hillary campaign is funny in its own right.

I was hoping Trump would go Condi, but Pence seems like a safe pick.

If there was ever a way for me to dislike the Trump ticket more, it was picking Mike fucking Pence. That dude sucks.

Because of his anti-ND bullshit recently that stems from being completely incapable of reading a law and/or scared of pissing off the local media.
Everyone I know in Indiana already hates him.

Indiana's RFRA fight proved him to be completely spineless. Zero respect for that guy.

Pence is a "safe" pick that will probably help undermine the #NeverTrump faction seeking to unbind delegates and deny Trump the nomination, but I can't imagine this will help him at all in the general election.

How will it even help with the #NeverTrump people? I don't see anyone getting excited about this.

The GOP is torn over whether to support Trump in a longshot bid to defeat Hillary, or to undercut him in the hopes of limiting the damage he'll do to down-ticket Republicans this November. Priebus and most other members of the "Establishment" are in the former camp, while #NeverTrump is the most vocal subgroup of the latter.

Had Trump picked a controversial outsider, it would have given the #NeverTrump faction more ammunition for organizing a convention coup to block his nomination. But Pence is a safe, milquetoast pick of the sort that GOP candidates pick all the time, which strengthens Priebus' hand re heading off the proposed convention coup.

This is great. The Donald has spent peanuts compared to CHRC and is looking pretty much tied.

Crooked Hilary has got to be terrified.

I can't think of an election, ever, where the VP pick mattered at all.
