That 2018 schedule just went from difficult to batsh*t insane.

I said it somewhere else, I thought I would miss this game far more than I actually do.

Sure, I'd be excited to beat them again but I'd just the same be done with them for a good while.

I just don't see why we need them on the schedule.

If true, ND will move Ball St to Sep 1 and play Michigan at home on the 8th. Michigan has 3 home games in Sept already besides the open date on the 8th so makes sense to play in SB. The second game would be in 2020.

As mentioned in the other thread, the 2018 schedule will include Florida State, Southern Cal, Stanford, VA Tech, and now Michigan. The only way this could work out is if Harbaugh bolts for the Colts before 18.

Isn't Georgia in 18 too?

Umm there is actually ND fans that DO NOT want Michigan on the schedule? WTF is really going on? This is one of the best rivalries in CFB.

No. A million times no. They are scum, do nothing for our national brand, and continuously blackballed ND while trying to enter the B1G. Michigan does not benefit ND at all. Couple that with the Anti-Catholic hate that has been spewed out of Ann Arbor, and I say no thank you.

Do we get them at home to start again?

I know we liked the home game in even years to avoid playing both Michigan/USC on the road in the same year. And Michigan disliked it because they didn't want to play ND/OSU on the road in the same year.

Respect the rivalry and what it means to college football...

But fuck Michigan.

In regards to the schedule...if you want to be the best, then beat the best. ND will have plenty of tests that season. Put your big boy pants on and lets do this.

Great question.

The other thing that makes this suck is that the Big Ten is so bad we don't want to do them any favors by giving them another quality opponent to brag about.

I might be in the minority here, but I miss this rivalry and so does college football. This has always been one of my favorites. I personally think it's on par with ND vs. USC.

If its a home and away series once every 6-10 years, I think its just fine. I used to enjoy playing them every year, and I was sad to see the series end. But now that some time has passed, I don't see the match up as being a necessary annual face off.

If true, at least Michigan is starting to schedule serious OOC opponents again, whereas so far under Harbaugh it has been teams from the AAC and from the bottom of the Pac-12 (not that Harbaugh is responsible for this scheduling but he has benefitted from it). The only tough games on their schedule this year are at MSU and at OSU. Meanwhile OSU is playing at OU.

Of course you do... you're from Michiana. Irish fans form Knoxville, North Dakota, SoCal and PA will never know what Michigan week is like when you grow up in that stretch of Catholic Country between South Bend and Chicago. As much as I've always respected the ND-SC rivalry the only time you encountered it in person was tailgating before the game... ND - Michigan was 365 days a year. ND-Michigan football and IU-Purdue basketball are the rivalries that matter in The Region.

I completely agree that its a year round rivalry. To me the series got very stale the last couple years. I think it could potentially hype up the games, if they are only played twice in a 6 - 8 year span.

great post. Having UM fans in your family too is another burden! Beating these guys every year is very sweet. 37-0 is already history im afraid.

I said above I thought the '18 game would be in SB because Michigan's 3 current Sept games are all at home. I didn't even check the rest of their schedule, they already have 7 home games. Unless they've re-engineered their schedule, the '18 game would have to be in SB.

At ND, at MSU, at OSU and open with Arkansas at home. When you add Neb, PSU, Wis at home and NW on the road... That could end up an 80's-90's ND type schedule.

I've always enjoyed the Michigan State games more but oh well. Need to get the head to head lead in this series.

I'm the opposite. Playing MSU is boring. UM vs. ND gets the fans/recruits excited.

The MSU could be great in the future if both teams keep progressing. The problem though is that UM fans are way more douchey so it makes them easier to hate
