Really? To me shooters have always been easier on a PC over a console, yet sometimes I'm forced to play them on console. I can't think of any drawbacks/challenges in comparison honestly. Payday 2 comes to mind, I've played it extensively on both console and PC. I have no problem getting headshots on everything in Payday 2 on PC, but it's a lot harder doing it on console because a mouse allows for far easier precision than a joystick. That's true for most shooters I would think. Unfortunately I rarely play Payday 2 on PC anymore because a lot of my buddies don't have gaming PCs.

The same is true for some other genres imo. Diablo 3 was far more enjoyable on PC over console, it's so much easier setting up actions on a keyboard as oppose to the limited inputs of a controller. However, there are some exceptions where I prefer certain games on consoles. Sports games come to mind, I can't imagine playing NCAA Football with a keyboard/mouse (Although you could plug a controller in). I prefer platformers, like Mario, with a controller too for obvious reasons.

Agree with this. K+M is better by a wide margin for many genres. The only ones where a controller is better that I can think of are fighting games, platformers, action and sports games. There was an fps game whose name escapes me that had cross play between the 360 and pc. K+M absolutely dominated pad players.

EDIT: Found it

It's a shame, because a controller just feels so much more natural. Sure, mouse and keyboard are more precise and make you "better" at the game, but that doesn't mean it's a better gaming experience. I don't like that a good PC Widowmaker can be game-breaking with insane headshots. Aside from mouse-versus-controller, I just really prefer couch and TV over chair and monitor.

The challenges are that others have an easier time with it too. I've always felt/noticed that people on PC shooters develop a more tactical style of playing

Cant run around like an asshole as much on PC because you will be shot. On xbox...hell yeah dude. Run around like a looney tune.

I've been back on an NCAA kick, after taking a break for a while.

I was an offensive coordinator UMass for two seasons, got hired by Oklahoma State as HC in year 3. Took them to four straight championships.

Last night, heading into the 2019 season, Brian Kelly got das boot after going 4-8 in his final season at ND. I got the ND job, and now my Friday night will be dedicated to rebuilding the Irish.

I could see that. To be fair, I used to play a lot of Counterstrike/Day of Defeat back in the day, and I play far less competitive shooters these days. I prefer co-op stuff, like Payday 2, hence the preference for PC when it comes to FPS.

The nice thing is you can hook your computer into a lot of TV's these days, as well as a controller, so there really isn't anything you can get from a console that you can't get from a PC (Unless it's a console only game). The problem I have with console shooters is the joystick is far too unresponsive and isn't nearly as precise as a mouse. Is a mouse too precise? Maybe, I use a bargain bin one myself, and even that may be too responsive. To me a joystick is just too slow though, and fields unwieldy for a shooter. In a realistic environment it wouldn't take that long to turn, aim, and shoot. To compensate for this a lot of shooters have some sort of auto-aim feature for consoles, and to me that isn't good gaming.

I'm surprised ND could ever be a rebuilding job in NCAA, they always end up as the top program in my dynasties. Not saying 4-8 isn't possible, but is the cupboard Ty Willingham bare? The nice thing about the ND job was it always had strong Academics, Program Tradition, and the Independent Conference was always considered highly for some reason. Those factors made it pretty easy to recruit, among the other high grades. In fact, I think the only area where ND graded average to poor was Campus Lifestyle.

I honestly would downgrade ND players when they weren't controlled/coached by me... because yeah, they always ended up dominating like it's the 1940s otherwise... took all the fun out of working your way up to the ND job when they won multiple titles just before you got there.

Spent a lot of time on the dod_charlie map. Storming the beach, with German Snipers picking you off as you spawned in...{shutter}

Sounds fun... for me the old school 'storming the beaches' will always be Overlord from Unreal...

Unreal was cool because it was this lone crazy, fast paced game in an era of attempted sims.... now it's all over the top fast paced lunacy and I'm starving for any realistic game... go figure.

I obviously wanted the ND job, but I wanted to work my way there legitimately, so the farthest I will go is scheduling them. I put them on my schedule for week 1, blew their doors off, and they ended up at 4-8 despite having a decent roster.

I think I've discovered that if you schedule a team early in the year, it generally has a pretty good chance of setting the tone for their entire season. It's almost as if early-season losses are weighted, and end up making that team's chances of running off a string of wins much less likely.

A team that starts off 0-1 isn't going to win 9 or 10 of their remaining games; they're going to lose a few more, maybe a lot.

A team that starts off with several wins could still lose, but that loss won't derail them like an early loss will.

*Also, I took a quick look at the roster, and the top of their depth chart is outstanding. They've got a stud QB and a 6'5" WR with 95 Spd/Acc. They've got two RB's rated as high 80's that run for power, and a FB rated as a 93 OVR. Gonna be running a lot of power formations and deep play-action with a pro-style playbook.

I do the same thing to USC and Michigan every season, but I don't plan on taking either job  I just enjoy watching them tank.

and don't mistake me, I wouldn't destroy ND, just prevent them from going full on Leahy style super beast... and only because my goal was always to build up to taking over ND... it'd be no fun to finally get the job and then, "Oh a roster full of 95 plus players right off the bat..."

Playing NCAA Football since '98 I don't think I've played more than 2-4 seasons every year with ND. There's no where to go when you're basically at the top, gets lonely. I think overall I may have played more seasons with bottom dwellers trying to build them up. There's something about taking a team like UTSA, Texas State, or New Mexico to the top of their conference and making them a power house where they're competing with the best teams for recruits and championships.

Agree with all of this. I used to find the team with the sweetest jerseys like a Memphis, Cincinnati, CMU, etc. The 2nd team I chose wasn't always the lowest tier school but the 3rd choice ALWAYS was a bottom dweller.

It's funny playing with a team who can only sit 13,000 fans in the stadium and ranked #1 in the country.

Anyone playing Overwatch on console, Torbjorn is getting a 30% damage nerf to his turrets in July.

Few things:

1.) I always start at the bottom and work up. build up a few different programs on the way.
2.) Starting with Eastern Michigan is the way to go.
3.) Ulk is still wrong.

Got to try a demo for PS VR yesterday. Played a short segment flying a spaceship in a dog fight. I'm still not completely sold because I haven't seen a game I'm dying for but I spent ten minutes with it on and it was all I could think about for the rest of the day. That tells me they are on to something here. Resolution is the biggest drawback (looked like 720p to me) but it's soooo immersive you can't help but forget.

Great example of the difference between PC and console right there. Torbjorn pretty much never sees play in high-level PC games, but the limitations of using a controller make him so over-powered on console that Blizzard is nerfing the best part of his kit by 30%.

Just finished COD Ghosts on XBOX 1 last week. That is by far my favorite (I know I'm way behind the times). Anyone know if a sequel will ever come or is the ending just a horrible cliffhanger?

2a.) No way. Texas State is easily one of the best programs to build up. It has access to all Texas recruits from a location perspective, is relatively close to Louisiana which is another recruiting hotbed, and is equal distance from both California and Florida (As oppose to some programs on either coast that have to travel completely across the country for one or the other). The only reason I'd take Eastern Michigan is if I wanted an extreme challenge in recruiting as you only have Ohio, and to a lesser extent Michigan talent to work with. Not to mention the Bobcats have some decent uniforms and a good Fight Song. I've got a bunch of Stadium Sounds for them on my Dynasty.

3a.)

I like to start with Western Kentucky.

Awesome Unis, nice stadium, cool mascot, and you can recruit Ohio, Virginia, Georgia and Florida pretty well right off the bat.

It helps that they usually have a stud RB on their roster to play with in your first two seasons, as well. And it's cool to figure out a realistic progression to move them into new conferences, as well, as long as you're putting in 15+ seasons. I like to own the Sun Belt for two seasons, move them to CUSA (which happened in real life), and then into the American whenever I decide that it's time to expand the Big XII and the American loses teams.
