Watched his film. Has college size and build all ready. Lot of good block shedding skills and has Very long arms and lots of great strength. Him and his brother BOTH have great strength. The only knock I'd say at this point is he doesn't YET have high end speed BUT he has two more years to develop that at a top tier prep school. This kid is gonna be good. A lot like Jamir but bigger and stronger but not as fast or athletic all though he does line up at TE and makes some plays. Only a Sophomore....I love this commit.

He's a 6-3, 240 Soph. and his twin brother is 286. Betting this kid grows into a WDE.

You're right about the WDE... He certainly could end up at 260ish and with those long arms and strength could be a great pass rusher... Exciting stuff

So, were these guys ND-locks pending the offer, or is this just how quickly things move when you start a class with a stud QB?

I told my coach a week and a half ago if Notre Dame offers I'm going to commit there because I think that's the place to be because of the education and football.

Got to think it helps to have Wimbush - who has seemed all in - coming from the same high school.
And we've always done well with the Jersey Catholic league. At least the ones among them who sincerely care about academics.

My opinion: NJ Catholic Schools have always produced talent that inherently appeals to the education and religious aspect of ND. The best thing that happened to ND recruiting the state was Boston College regressing back to mediocre status, it's the only Catholic school with high quality football and high quality academics.

Though, with that said, the Big 4 schools have produced some nice pros recently and none of them went to Catholic universities.

SPP (Wimbush's HS): Will Hill (Florida)

Bergen Catholic: Brian Cushing (USC)

St. Joseph's Montvale: McCourty Twins on Titans and Pats (Rutgers)

Don Bosco: Leonte Carroo (Rutgers), Corey Wooten (Northwestern), Justin Trattou (Florida), many others that wikipedia tells me (I didn't know them off the top of my head and had to look it up)

NJ could be fertile for the density of athletes and the sheer number of highly educated parents who understand the inherent risks and limitations of playing football and maybe want to find a good educational fit for kids.

These kids look unbelievable for sophomores. Their highlights are awfully full, (long), for being sophomores, and playing against such tough competition.

And they look like they can bring the defensive hurt. A whole lot of defensive hurt. Are these the kind of kids you recruit to anchor a championship defense? So far it seems so!

Justin has athletic talent that hasn't even been tapped yet. There is a chance he could go down as a great ND linebacker. The only thing I can see working against him is that he may get too big!

Great pick up - big time Bash Brothers potential to lead the defensive front in a few years.

I believe he had somewhere around 8 sacks going into this game and he was dropped out of the top 247, lol.

Yes, he looks good this year. I'm interested to see how his body fills out or leans out.

Same here! I really really hope he grows into a big, strong, effective DE for us. He's all ready a good size but so young, which is exciting. With him, his brother, Ovie and Max on that side of the ball all ready locked up for '18, it could be a very special and defining defensive class when it's all said and done.

Don't forget the best linebacker in that class with Matt Bauer. For some reason it takes 3 months to add a recruit to our commitment list here at IE.

I think Vancouver meant Matt Bauer...not Max. He grows to DE and his brother into DT and they can play side by side.

Thanks for this!! Wow. This kid is definitely the big, long armed pass rushing DE that we need. He's improved a lot since his last year especially in speed. The thing I'm impressed with the most is his pass rush moves. I watched the film closely and he has excellent inside moves, outside move, solid speed and bend to get around the edge and moves very quickly on twists. He has long arms and wraps up really well and is a nasty hard hitter with great form. I'm very very optimistic about this kid. Outside of having a five star QB committed, our Defensive haul in '18 so far is very very exciting. Bauer is an incredible MLB IMO, and I would think Justin will end up a 6'3 245-255 lb WDE down the road, Ovie will be more of a true WLB and Jayson will be a stout DT for us. We need to continue to recruit the DL hard and continue to find playmakers at DB. I'm hoping for a top 5 class in 2018. We're headed in the right direction.

Go Irish!!
