Where were you for the '93 FSU game?

I was watching the game on TV. It was the National Championship that should have been. I still can't get over winning the head-to-head battle with FSU, finishing with an identical overall record, and then being voted 2nd behind the team we beat. In short, we got scr**ed by the polls.

My senior year - It was the last game I saw as a student at ND... I missed the BC game because I was out of town. Great way to go out... rushed the field etc.

I was 16. I actually ran into Jeff Burris' parents while out picking up food for our cookout. Watched it with my grandpa and family.

Had to listen to Fienstien for a few minutes today and he was ranting about how ND has NEVER NOT gotten the benefit of the doubt... EVER. I almost called in and dropped the "Then what happened in 89 AND 93 John?" but I've heard how he handles those that point out his bull and knew it was pointless...

Related: Dan Patrick should not be able to go to commercial...

I was 13 watched it with my Dad, what a great day. I watched the '93 FSU game with my son (he's 15) for the first time yesterday. I forgot how good Jeff Burris and Lee Becton were.

I was sitting in my friends garage with a heavy brace on my left knee, blew my ACL the previous Friday night during sectional championship game against Mishawaka Penn high school. Couldn't believe how awesome the game was even though I was on crutches with surgery that coming Monday morning.

Literally the first football game I've ever seen. Watched it on a 19" color TV. It's what made me an Irish fan. I hope some other young kids have the same experience on Saturday.

That game didn't make you an Irish fan. You just jumped on the band wagon.

The Thrill of Victory coupled with the Agony of Defeat the following week against BC made you an Irish fan. Bleeding out has a pronounced bonding effect. The Final Poll sealed the deal.

Senior in HS, watched at home by myself. Highs of this game were almost as high as the next week's results were low. I must have been a month or two off my campus visit and can't remember if my application was done or not but I caught tons of crap from everyone for even considering ND (rural area, going to ISU or Iowa was "making it" and out of state was unheard of). Small town so keeping it private was impossible.

Of course, my nickname had become Rudy since it was released a month before the FSU game. I avoided Rudy as long as I could until a buddy (happened to be an FSU fan) rented it and made me watch it in the spring knowing I was anxiously awaiting an admission letter. Good dude, one of the few that 1) believed I could do it, 2) wanted to see me do it. Hated that nickname though, even after getting my acceptance letter.

I watched the Stanford game last week with TE, Oscar McBride. Looks like he could play LT for the Chargers right now.

Kory Minor's Sister in Law was sitting at the table next to us.

Damn there sure are a lot of youngins on this site.

Sitting at home watching the game and posting on a Compuserve or eWorld Football Board via a screaming 9,600 bit/s dial-up modem. You could type a comment about the first down play and see it posted before the punt.

Lucky dog!

One of my all time regrets, not going in. We never would have made rent if we would have gone in, cheapest tickets were over $200 if I remember correctly. That was a stack back in the day. Still had a great time in the lot... and got to keep drinking!

If I could jump into the Hot Tub Time Machine, I'd tell you this, rent would've been late.

.

Yep...$300 to get in. My young Wife was not thrilled when i got home...but i was!

Why wait when you could have just called someone on your $2500 Motorola Star-Tac flip phone?

On the field, in my band uniform. Spike Lee was on the FSU sideline, and had also been on the Michigan sideline in Ann Arbor earlier that year. I yelled at him and asked why he kept picking the wrong team. He started to turn, but never acknowledged......

#1? Abso-LOU-tely.

Ouch!

I remember those $200 tickets being at the top of the old bowl and we thought, we'll get something closer and cheaper... yeah, not so much. Immediately after the game, I also remember being glad we didn't drop the coin and had a blast in the lot. We used to go to a lot of tail gates and then head to the bars to watch the game if we didn't score some cheap seats.

To put those ticket prices into perspective, we got into Bulls - Pistons Eastern Conference Championship games, good balcony seats... for $75 back then.
